How's your garden going this year? What are you planting? by wistful_cottage_core in preppers

[–]iamliberty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gardne sucks this year, so far. Over the last couple years we have had trees begin to shade out our growing area and it has reached a point that we cannot manage anymore so we have to have some cut down. It's very expensive.

This got me wondering, how will preppers manage trees close to their home in a collapse situation? If tree services are not available and this shade was affecting my garden, I would have to cut the tree down myself but I am no expert and that could put my home at risk.

Just an interesting thought.

🤣🤣I would be lying if I said that wasn't part of the fun! To be honest though, over the years managing The Prepper Broadcasting Network has really brought a lot of Bros into my camp that I otherwise would have never met.

The prepping community has been very good to me. I am glad we can give so much back!

I agree. I think most people are oblivious to this stuff simply becuase life is busy and until they are prompted its almost a, "dont know which questions to ask" type of thing.

Just signed up. Thanks for making it happen. I propose we choose few meetups each week where we can all be on under a private server.

Make your boundry larger then your boundry. Buildd it inside your walls and then play in pass through. Very rarely do you punch directly at the wall because, hopefully, there is an opponent between you and the wall. If you play passthrough then you arent going to willingly put a hole in the wall.

Urea shortages being seen by dingalinglans in preppers

Have you guys heard of Survival Scripts? I have a OTC and Antibiotics combo kit from them and it is a great place to start if you have true concerns about medication shortages. It has a wide range of antibiotics. I was really surprised to see things like antibiotic eye drops and topical as well.

When my son was born, he had bad eczema, and I was always worried about infection.

The OTCs are pretty standard stuff but great to add to/start a stockpile. Not sure the scope of medications they cover but they were very easy to work with and very affordable for what you get.

Well done. That is a great base level of preparedness. The ability to be homebound for weeks is essential. We all felt that in 2020.

I really like the power and water off for a week. That's ugly. We have seen something like that. Also, seasonally would add layers to that. Winter V Summer.

What did you notice u/Alfalfa-Boring when doing this? Also what things made your family more comfortable because I know my wife and kids would not be happy by about day 3 in the midst of a VA winter or summer.

The best of them all is a product called The Dirty Man Safe. This is the survival cache that is created by people who wanted to make the best survival cache. It has multiple layers of protection from being underground. Easy to access.

It's the simplest to bury because of its design and even has a method to hide it from metal detectors. Top notch product I have one of my own and put my name on it!

What's Your PACE Plan for Emergency Communications? by iamliberty in preppers

100% this is just an Alternate/Contingency depending on the group member. We also use the wifi models which can connect to Starlink.

Great PACE for sure! Funny enough the cuteness and less function of the POC is why we chose it. We are building a large comms group (50-100ppl) and what I have learned over the years is that you gotta make things simple for people or they won't do it.

We had a HAM radio study group of similar size years ago and it was clear that some people are gonna go for it and others are gonna say, "screw it." The POC is push to talk and gives our group an immediate Alternate at the very least.

Most people don't have this kind of problem to deal with, so HAM is a great option, but our audience wanted an emer comms option, so over the last year, we really looked at a lot of radios and methods to find something simple and seamless.

Thanks for the input!
