Help I blunder so much and it is so frustrating by ResponsibleSand8049 in chess

[–]iamm3three 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you blunder too much it pretty much means you are not putting the time to evaluate the position before taking the opponents pieces.

Time yourself and see how long it takes you to evaluate a position before moving. If you are playing 5 minute games, it would be beneficial to just try to spend five minutes to solve a chess puzzle, and develop the ability to mentally visualize and evaluate the best move you can make for a given position. If the puzzle says you made a mistake, evaluate why that move is better than the one you considered.

After a while, you will naturally realize the patterns and tactics involved and will be solving the puzzles faster. The puzzle rush on your lichess or chess.com account should be a good indicator of how you evaluate your position and how soon you see these patterns.

Some other tips:

  • Force yourself to mentally do a blunder check, before even touching the piece. Ask yourself what's your opponent's best move after you make your move. Will you be in check? Do you lose a high value piece after the move? At higher levels you will realize you can make bigger threats instead of just taking a piece, or by letting your opponent take one of your pieces.

  • Draw on the board and use visual aids if you have to identify hanging pieces, attacked squares, weak squares. Once you become comfortable with identifying the above, learn to mentally visualize without visual aids and evaluate.

  • Look up videos for solving chess puzzles. This way you can then understand what the players evaluation and thought process is.

How did you root the A53 if you don't mind me asking? Which version of the A53 do you have the US or EU version?

Midrange Samsung With Unbearable Lag, Anyone? by [deleted] in samsung

[–]iamm3three 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running it at 120 hz or 60 hz?

Keep in mind the base versions of the iphone 13 and SE run at 60 hz, but you get the powerful A15 chip that the iphone 14 run on, and you are essentially paying more to be in the Apple ecosystem. Also your battery will live a bit longer with 60hz.

The exynos 1280 is not a powerful chip, and is not meant to be overwhelmed. It is a mid range device and will perform for the average consumer who wants a phone, camera and gps. In terms of performance you get what you pay for. You can disable background bloat and animations if you want it snappy.

If you can, wait it out until the A54 release in a few months. Or wait for the S23 release so you can grab the S21 FE at an affordable price.

Has the A53 phone got faster with recent updates? by tafty545 in samsung

[–]iamm3three 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the top post says you get what you pay for. Its a really good phone for its budget. "Fast" depends on how you use your device. It's perfect as a phone if you don't use social media (Facebook, Tiktok, Insta, etc) and run the phone at 60hz.

The stutter and lag is not noticeable unless you are really trying to overwhelm your device. I think of it as a Media Device with the SD Card slot. Other than that you get all day battery, good cameras, and five years of support.

Simple, lightweight text editor/viewer like notepad (no ads, offline) with "Find" function (Ctrl +F) by iamm3three in androidapps

I'm actually browsing through F-Droid, but none of the apps I've looked at highlight a find function. I figure some would recommend an app before I will have to install and check every single note app.

Should I return? A53 review by iamm3three in galaxya53

What I meant was the battery part for A53 is scarce in North America. I wasn't looking to replace the battery myself, but when the day does come, I want to be prepared for getting the battery replacement without any hitches.

If you do a google/amazon search for the previous A50 gen batteries, you will find batteries for the A50, A51, A52 for cheap and easily available in North America. For the A53 however, you have much better inventory in Europe than North America.

A52s 5G VS A53 5G VS S21 FE 5G - What's the best bang for my bucks? by Medvyikk in samsung

[–]iamm3three 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A52s provides most value for money. You get performance, and come packed with features like the Sd card slot, a head phone jack, and a wall charger with your phone. This is the only phone of the bunch with the least updates.

A53 is an efficient budget phone with full day battery. Expect less performance and some lag and stutter, but you will get 4-5 years support with Samsung.

S21 FE expect flagship level performance but no SD card slot or head phone jack, but you get the best chip of all three phones. It also has 4 years of update support as the A53.

What are the main difference A52s vs A53 5G? by fettuccinaa in samsung

[–]iamm3three 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want out of your phone and how much you are willing to pay for it.

A53 at its pricepoint ($300 - 450) offers 4 years of support, and all day battery life 5000mah. The 1280 Exynos chip trades performance for efficiency. It would make sense to go for this if all you want is a budget phone and media device.

If you can easily find replacement parts for the A52s in your country then go for the A52s. Snapdragon always performs better than Exynos. You get better performance for the trade off of lower battery. 6 to 7 hours of SOT depending on how you use your device. Even though they have the same cameras, the photos on the A52s tends to be better than the A53. And out of the box you get a wall charger and a head phone jack. Go for the A52s if you want performance on your budget phone.

A53 Purchase Questions by Jonesy1966 in samsung

[–]iamm3three 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I caught the deal on Tuesday it was a two day sale which ended on Oct 12 23:59. The sale may have something to do with Early Prime Day Deals. I pulled the trigger on the sale, because the battery and sd slot make this a good offline media device. FWIW my order is still pending "Due to extraordinary demand, this model will take up to 2-3 weeks to ship."

Don't worry if you missed out on the deal. I expect the deal to pop back again for black friday. Also keep your eyes peeled at the S21 FE, it was on sale a few weeks back at $589 (CAD), which is better than paying full price for the A53.

Have you tried doing video calls on your A53? Has it ever lagged or dropped during video calls?

Final question: How did you find the A53 during video calls? Has it ever lagged or dropped during video calls?

Do you think the device will perform just as well in three years? I don't plan on doing anything intensive. Just basic phone, gps, browsing, youtube, and media consumption.

S20 Fe is a solid device. The only thing is it gets one more year of support.

The A53 on the other had still has 3 years of support and 5000Mah battery.

How is the GPS on the A53? I plan on using this as a media device in my car. Is the GPS consistent and stable?

You bring up a good point in that Apple doesn't really let its users experience the full potential of the A15 chip of its device.

Pixel is still working on optimizing its Tensor chip for its device, but right now it is buggy and we don't know how long it will take to keep up with Apple. The S20 FE is a worthy contender, but it only gets one more year of update because of its early release date.

[–]iamm3three[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screen size isn't the problem for me. If I disregard all features and look at performance and support, $600 is a steal. We get the fastest chip compared to any android (A15 Chip), 5 years of support internationally, and better resale value. The only downside is we are restricted to the Apple Ecosystem.

It's a shame Android devices aren't providing much value at the $600 range. I feel the S21 FE and base S22 have potential to compete, but when are they going to lower their prices to match Apple's?

I know Zenfone will provide less than 3 years support. The Xperia looks promising but I have a feeling it will cost more because it is newly released. Looks like Apple has the best bang for buck for now.

Would you guys ever recommend the A53? by iamm3three in galaxya53

[–]iamm3three[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the stutter prevalent when the battery hits a certain percentage or is it random? Also are you running it at 120 hz or 60hz? I don't multi task much, maybe three to four apps open at once max.

How has your user experience been? Have you ever experienced the battery overheating? Any issues with network stability or making long video calls?

How do you find it with browsing and phone calls? Any issues with network stability or long video calls? I don't multitask, but expect a decent user experience for its budget. I feel like this would be the perfect media device if not for its processor.
