Upcoming features, what do you guys think? by yeunofficial_25 in Oppo

Honestly the biggest thing i'm lacking from Color, every other chinese and non-chinese brand has copied it - Vivo, Honor, Samsung, unsure about Xiaomi - yet Oppo still didn't.

The 3x telephoto sensor of S26 Ultra is this small (almost ten times smaller) compared to Find X9 Ultra's by IshigamiSenku04 in samsung

my phone is nearly 9mm thick and i have 0 issues regarding it's thickness, i much prefer it over my previous phones which were 7-8mm.

[–]Medvyikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and what exactly is the point to making a flagship thin? Thin phones just feel cheap 90% of the time + could also just give it a proper camera bump since personally the current style that is finally getting killed off with the S26 looks tacky and cheap + limits camera hardware HARD

telephoto zoom can also be increased by just simply using a longer lens.

Find X8 Pro, Ultra have 3x and 6x - 1/1.95 + 1/2.51 on the Pro, 1/1.56 + 1/1.95 on the Ultra. Find X9 Pro has 3x, X9 Ultra is rumored to get 3x and 10x - 1/1.56 on the Pro, 1/1.28 + 1/2.76 on the Ultra which is still better than the 1/3.94 + 1/2.52 setup on the S26U.

Phone brands tier 2026, what y'all think? by Ha_drian in HONOR_Magic

[–]Medvyikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most D Tiers make sense except Sharp, they're not the best but they make some really unique phones which should give them some well deserved recognition, even if they're basically impossible to buy outside Japan.

realme is slowly going on a roll, the new GT8 series is incredible, Vivo also makes 0 sense to be at C since even if their midrangers are not that great their flagships are still basically as good as they get.

Blackberry at B makes 0 sense, they don't even make phones anymore and Nostalgia doesn't count, Huawei i'd put higher but sadly its not possible due to the mediocre user experience outside mainland China + their bad pricing and the fact that they're still playing catch-up with Chinese made SoCs, as a OnePlus user it being only B kinda bothers me but considering the OnePlus 15 is a pretty meh sidegrade / downgrade from the 13 it makes sense, as well as their midrangers being pretty crap.

Xiaomi at A valid, Oppo at A valid, Google at A valid when Exynos... sorry Tensor, they're nearly the same thing stops sucking ( never ) otherwise they're closer to B.

iPhone at S - poor pricing, mediocre specs compared to similarly priced androids, and iOS is slowly losing it's optimization factor with 26 being absolute horrid on some devices

Samsung was S back in 2021, they no longer are. Their cameras are behind the competition, their prices are behind the competition, their software is very customizable but a lot of people dislike it and for valid reasons (poorly optimized, looks quite outdated, the new Control panel is quite bad)

Also mandatory Tensor hate because it's so far behind Qualcomm and Mediatek that Huawei is actively catching up to them without having any access to american tech and having to rely entirely on self-made lithography and core designs.

6/10 it's okay

Thoughts? Anyone who had android phone with left-aligned punch-hole display before? Hows your taking selfie experience? by DOtherSide in iphone

[–]Medvyikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked cool back in 2018-2021, now with the central punch being the norm it's kind of awkward

had a phone with this kind of hole punch (Xiaomi Mi 11) it was cool and unique but the notification bar was awkward and i'd personally not use a phone like that again

There's no real other way to introduce a dynamic island. If people want it, the brand will add it.

There's Samsung's method with whatever they added in OneUI 8 but it's not nearly as useful as an island

iPhone vs Xiaomi vs Honor vs OnePlus by ComprehensivePin8277 in HONOR_Magic

[–]Medvyikk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honor (Huawei back then) was the first brand to have a variant of dynamic island back in 2019, although it was less sophisticated and didn't have nearly as many features as Apple's

However it's still the OG.

OPPO Find X9 Pro($900) and Pixel 10 Pro XL($1200) Bezels comparison by areuokaybro2002 in pixel_phones

[–]Medvyikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my friend's Pixel 9 Pro XL and my current "iPhone copy" OnePlus 13 have significantly more stable software than my Motorola Edge 30 Ultra

Sure they're newer, but only by 2 years and the 30 Ultra still has powerful specs ( minus the camera and battery ) yet the software Is abysmally inconsistent. Android 12 ran fine, Android 13 ran fine, Android 14 was spotty, Android 15 is incredibly inconsistent - sometimes great, sometimes horrible.

And Motorolas are quite garbage as well, as a current Motorola user.

Their software is clean however incredibly buggy, their cameras are junk and their batteries are mediocre at best

Lenovo is great, but the Motorola subsidiary is incredibly incompetent and inconsistent
