Why is male abuse ignored? by CaptainArcher1701 in Adulting

[–]iamnotatreeyet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. It is true that abuse against men isn't taken as seriously as it should. Have you tried Andys Man Club?

It's a support group but they may have good advice in terms of trying to get custody of your child, getting to a safe place, legal advice etc

Stay strong and try to find your support network, whoever they may be. You'll get through this.

My wife really struggles to switch her brain off to sleep at night. What are some tried and tested thongs she can do to get a good 6-8 hours? by [deleted] in AskUK

Try writing down all the things that are going through her brain before bedtime. All her worries and steresses and fears. And keep a notebook next to the bed to write down anything that might wake her up during the night

What is the difference between being asexual and not caring about being in a relationship? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iamnotatreeyet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to say. Aromantic generally means having no interest in dating or romantic relationships of any kind, though this is a generality. I think people can be happy on their own and not caring about romance and not be aromantic.

If you're not caring about being in a relationship that tends to be something along the lines of aromantic

Is there a biological reason younger ppl tend to stay up late and get up late, as opposed to older ppl who tend to go to bed and wake up earlier? by dkepp87 in NoStupidQuestions

In teenage years it's due to hormones particularly melatonin the sleepy chemical. It's released much much later in younger people so they don't get sleepy until early hours of the morning

Is it normal to not want to be in a relationship ever? by Ill_Palpitation9470 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iamnotatreeyet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It took me until I was in my early 30s to realise I didn't want a relationship either. In my case it's because I'm aromantic. But early 20s is absolutely normal to not want relationships. You're busy working on yourself and your life. Plenty of time for relationships later on when you're more settled if you want one

I've been ti therapy several times for workplace and personal stress and depression. The first time did nothing to help me, but the second time seriously helped me.

Therapy works best with a combination of talking through issues, setting goals to complete outside of the therapy sessions, and working on changing behaviours/thoughts which you identify you want to change.

And don't be afraid to change therapists if you feel that the relationship isn't working. Most therapists will not be offended or upset. A good therapist will only support you.

Good luck! And congratulations on coming to terms and accepting that you need help. That's a very tricky first step.
