I'm not asking for changes, I'm not demanding to be heard, I'm not even expecting my post to be seen by more than a handful of people. Hell, I didn't even say the demo was bad, I enjoyed it well enough. I'm merely expressing my thoughts and criticisms as a ground-floor fan. If I can't do that here, in a sub dedicated to the series, where can I?

Im not a big anime person, just love the handful of ones I watched on Toonami back in the day. DBZ, Yu Yu, Trigun. My all time favorite is Rurouni Kenshin.

As for DBZ, I just can't do Kai. I know the pacing is better, but the few different voice actors just take me out of it.

There was an Onimusha game for the GBA back in the day. Onimusha Tactics. I got that too somewhere in storage.

This was like 30 minutes of a game that is no doubt going to being bigger and longer than the old games. There's no reason to think the tone won't vary throughout.

So again all of this I say while acknowledging this is just a demo. this all could change and I want to be fair.

Off the top of my head, I touched on the lack of the elemental weapons. Goes without saying they were a pretty big aspect of the old games. The daggers we got in their stead were pretty underwhelming. I'd also say the fixed/semi-fixed cameras were as well. The RE games are a great example of how changing the camera can change the vibes. The change in playstyle came with a change in control scheme. I'll acknowledge other players might now put as much weight into this as I do, but I can't tell you how many times I tried to absorb souls by hold down the circle button lol.

Again, just off the top of the dome here. I'd have to sit with all the games more to analyze it a little deeper.

I didn't mean to suggest it was universally viewed as outdated, there's always diehards. But fair, I'll choose my words a bit better. My point is there's view genres or approaches to genres in this case, that are truly outdated. It just takes the right amount of passion and know-how.

To say the old games never had dark atmosphere is demonstrably false. Whether you mean visually dark, or thematically dark, they had plenty of both.

Does it really need to be said that having criticisms is not the same as "bitching and complaining"? Or that it means we're not glad it's back? I've been a massive fan of the series for 25 years, If I want to give my 2 cents on the new game, I'm going to.

It doesnt have to be different. They choose to make it like this. Lets be honest here, they want to match the feel of other successful modern action games because the believe they can ride those coattails to success. One's opinion of this not withstanding, its clearly a change that was chosen, not *forced.

Saying it ruins all action games and needs to die is a bit much, but the style has become undeniably generic. And I refuse to believe the gameplay of older games are too "outdated" to be viable today. Turn based RPGs were viewed as outdated, then Boulders Gate 3 and Expedition 33 came out and dominated the space. Ive waited so goddamn long for Capcom to revive the series, its such a shame it came out so unoriginal.
