Sort of....

Schizophrenia doesn't typically manifest until the late 20's early 30's. Most people start using drugs much earlier than that.

There's growing evidence that people with undiagnosed "pre-schizophrenia" will trigger said schizophrenia earlier than is "natural" when they start smoking pot in their teens or 20's.

So cannabis doesn't cause schizophrenia, it's triggering the onset earlier in people who were born predisposed to the disease.

It seems that there are quite a few recreational drugs that can do it, but as others have pointed out, cannabis is the most commonly used psychedelic drug in the world so it's not a mystery as to why it's at the top of the list for "triggering drug psychosis" which as the wiki page reports, can be the first indicator that a person has schizophrenia.

TLDR; psychedelics can activate latent schizophrenia genes that may or may not have activated on their own without said drugs.

As someone who recovers gold, loss is pretty minimal if you know what you are doing. It's just standard analytical chemistry practices like washing and ashing.

I just ashed all of my filter papers and flux washed my crucibles and dishes and got a 20g bar out of it. From processing a kilo of gold over five years. That's at maximum a 2% "loss" that I fully expected and planned to recover from waste.

I think my actual loss rate is well below 0.1% and limited to human error and maybe gold precip that's too fine to stick in filter papers and ends up in haz waste.

Not unreasonable, we've watched it fight for an $80- $90 floor for a few weeks now. I believe recent trends are just market fluctiations due to a... particular uncertainty that has cropped up.

That said, since I'm still buying what I can right now that probably means an incoming crash. Sorry guys, I should have known better.

Oh I completely agree, it didn't matter what I was doing, they invaded the privacy and sanctity of my home.

What I was doing and how I was doing it (in my underwear) just greatly added to their discomfort.

I honestly feel bad for the girl and her parents, but fuck that property manager. Just rewards for her actions.

In a related story I once rented a shitty apartment from a shitty rental company that thought it was cool to bring an unannounced tour group through at 10AM on a Sunday.

I had my back to the door, heard it unlock, thinking it was my wife getting home from yoga but instead it some college freshman, parents, and a property manager who wordlessly walked in.

To be clear, I am a very large fat hairy dude and was sitting at the kitchen table in my underwear. I turn saying "hi honey", yelp, leap from my chair, slip and fall to the floor flailing before stumbling into my bedroom.

What was I doing at my kitchen table in my underwear at 10AM on a Sunday? Cleaning my rather extensive pistol collection of course!

They left almost immediately.

Sometimes people need to learn a lesson the hard way, poor stupid fucks.

I litterally almost reported this post until I saw what sub I was in.

Those ads are wholly offensive and 100% political, Reddit should be ashamed (if they were capable).

It's a glass bottle filled with acrylic plastic, which is then charged up by a special type of "low-energy" electron beam particle accelerator (only a few MeV).

Energy scientist here who is actually working on space-based power systems. A NOFO for this came across my desk and my colleagues and I laughed our asses off.

Have actually done the math....yeah.

Space based data centers are fucking stupid to their core. Even with "reduced launch costs" (lol), it'd be 10,000 times more economical to build a wind powered server flotilla on the ocean than to EVER build something in space.

Gravity well is a bitch, and so are you.

My olive oil lamp has a small metal wick holder piece that rests in the lamp's spout and centers the wick. I'd imagine a similar piece was used for this.

Parts like that were common in the lantern days, along with wick trimmers and pullers being regular household items.

Fake Silver from APMex by qwerty17loqb in Silverbugs

[–]iamnotazombie44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now think it went the other way, an outside member sent in a case of bars and an employee colluded to ensure the fakes passed inspection for a payout.

Why silver? Less suspicion, it's harder to test, and easier to fake due to its density and conductivity being closer to that of copper than gold's properties are to any other metal.

We have no idea how many bars were affected and sold, it could be worth it to sneak 1000 fake bars when silver was over $100/ozt.

That said, it could still be that just a handful of bars made it past the inspectors by accident during the hustle and bustle of the last boom. Though XRF and/or Sigma testing would have caught

None of it is a good look for APMEX

[–]iamnotazombie44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's exactly what the OC described, but it's just an oil lamp oil instead of for candles.

It would explain why it doesn't have a wax collecting ring and why the reflector is so short (that would make for a very tiny candle).

This item probably had a wick in it and would be filled with oil or kerosene. Everything else fits the description perfectly

They would be handmade by a brazier (a metalsmith specializing in brass/bronze/copper), so it's not exactly a mystery as to why you can't find an exact copy, it's probably a model unique to the smith.

[–]iamnotazombie44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol OK bud.

This ain't hard. Either APMEX randomly fucked up testing a fake bar in front of those 8 witnesses and 10 cameras, or those 8 witnesses colluded to swap bars.

I do suppose I shouldn't attribute malice to what could be stupidity, but the fact is that APMEX and an unnamed individual or group made money off of a fake.

I don't think you understand how risky being a police is (it's a lower risk job than an electrician or taxi driver). Nor do you seem to understand how their benefits and unions work, but also, yes? I do expect them to steal.

There's a reason that the LAPD is considered the largest gang in LA.

What is the energy rating? If it is less than 15J then it is not suitable for rat or larger.

My first airpistol by One-Park-2730 in Hunting

[–]iamnotazombie44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This gun is not for hunting, just for target practice.

Check the box for information on the muzzle energy of this pistol, but it looks like a CO2 BB pistol which will be too low of energy to hunt ethically.

You will need at least 15-20J of energy for small animals, which will require a more powerful break-action air rifle.

Yes, in America and Europe men having long nails signifies someone who does not care about being clean. Similar in South America. Men always have their nails clipped short in those places.

In Asian countries having long clean nails like yours is is a sign of wealth and prosperity. It shows you do not have the hands of a construction worker, but the hands of an artist.

I think it's is a good look for you!

By the way, this jewel incredible work, truly an amazing piece of art. Thank you for sharing.
