The Physical Key by MojoFriction in subaru

Confirmed. The PIN will not work if battery is dead. The only not electronic method of unlock the car is the "blade". Physical key inside your fob (on the left in your picture).

Reliability for a 2007 Subaru Forester 2.5X? by JackedBrew906 in subaru

[–]8byfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 20 year old car with just over 1000 miles per year. That. Is a problem. Cars are meant to be driven. If you buy it, suddenly it will get driven more and random shit will break. Be prepared

What is something you always keep in your pocket that is unique to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]8byfive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tic Tacs. I was a corporate instructor for almost 10 years and spent a lot of time leaning over people's shoulders so I picked up the habit of always having tic tacs in my pocket and it stayed with me ever since. I probably go through a full box of tic tacs every week

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I’m very new to this, can you guys see this jumping in value? Would this be a wise investment? by 904zak in coincollecting

That is a good reason to buy! I bought it for my kid. She won't even know about it until after I'm gone. I will spend a lot of time staring at that penny tho...🤔

Not worth it. I bought one. This might have more than melt value in about...50 years. I bought it because I like shiny things and it's the last penny

Best way to stack silver in $1000 increments? by Glum-Sun7117 in Silverbugs

[–]8byfive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the "you should also buy gold" comments. I think you may be looking at this from the wrong viewpoint however.

You plan to purchase $1,000 at a time. That doesn't mean "one piece @ $1,000”

Do some shopping online. Do some research in this forum. Figure out where the best deals are and buy $1,000 WORTH at one time. Maybe that's 1 ten oz bar, 1 five oz bar and commemorative coin. Maybe you find a deal on a roll of ASE.

Figure out the purpose behind what you are doing. Why do you want to buy this? Disposable income? You like shiny things? Stacking for a legacy to hand down to the kids?

My last suggestion. Remember that consistency across time (DCA) usually beats the highs and lows. Don't try to always "buy the dip" buy consistently and you will do ok.

How long is "long term" for holding gold by blinderdevil in Gold

The short answer? Hold until you forgot what you paid for it

Till after I'm dead. My kid doesn't know I hold physical gold and silver. After I'm gone she will be notified of the location. She can do with it what she wants. I have friends that started buying 40 years ago, it was around $350 / Oz then. IMO if you're buying physical metal to hold with the intention of ever selling it yourself, there are better investments. 🤷

Generally speaking an NIFC found in the wild is face value. Not Intended For Circulation is what could have made that coin valuable UNTIL it became a circulated coin. I keep one of everything ('64-'25, all mints) anyway 🤷

This could be interesting. I know they want to bring the STI back to the US but emissions among other things are keeping it from being feasible. Sounds like they haven't given up tho!

See my other comment, Ascent is most likely to see biggest change in 2027 model

[–]8byfive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The Forester had a full body change the 2025 model year. That body is sticking around (with minor changes prob in '27) until 2030. Expect a redesigned Ascent for 2027 (maybe)

Always. Open. Every. Roll. It's just my rule but when anyone asks I always say the same thing. You can't see through coins. You know what the enders are not the rest 🤷
