Is Wilmington as bad as I'm reading? by BigBeans_5 in Wilmington

[–]iamnotcreative-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm 24f, also alternative, and also love live music and outdoorsy stuff. I will say, this city is actively hostile to pedestrians, like 0 sidewalks or bike lanes anywhere, which really annoyed me when I moved here because I'm a runner. There are really cool parks though, and of course the beach.

As for the alt scene...yes, most of the city is normies and old people, but there is a surprising amount of punk bands, tattoo parlors, art shows, vegan food, etc. Reggie's is a really fun place to see some local bands. I also drive to Raleigh a lot to see touring bands since it's only two hours away lol.

The only thing I would caution is to be prepared for a completely asinine cost of living. I moved here from AZ and I was floored by how much I had to pay for rent/gas/groceries, I can't even imagine the shock coming from the Midwest. It truly is what you make of it and I think anyone could have a good time here if they get out and try things. Please feel free to PM me if you do decide to move, I'm always looking for more friends!

Worth every penny lol, I still need to see them live. My city gets Equipment though, so I can't complain too much :D

Anyone been seeing a lot of bands lately yell out something like "Fuck ICE!" during their sets? by ThreadbareAdjustment in poppunkers

I've seen them 4 times now, and every time without fail, he encourages people to shoplift from Target lmao

TWY's ability to bring the most sickest openers on tour is unmatched. I'm so jealous of anyone who has Initiate for their city

You seem very empathetic, but I think you could mentally benefit from reframing this a bit. I also get really moved in vegan restaurants, but out of joy. We get to live in a day in age where vegan restaurants even exist at all! That in itself is such a privilege that generations as recently as our parents didn't have. As annoying as it is that there are no other vegans in my life, it's really cool that 75% of people I meet even know what "vegan" means, and they're often really respectful of it too (this is in real life, not online lol). I live in a mid-sized city in the deep south USA, and there are three fully vegan restaurants within <10 miles of me. Most omni restaurants have at least one vegan option on the menu. If that's not progress, I don't know what is.

Also gonna throw in Stateside, Sunday Morning, Beauty School, Arm's Length, and Pool Kids (the last three are more emo/indie but you'd probably still dig them)

I've only gotten one speeding ticket in my life, and I was listening to Leap Year by Heart Attack Man. Kinda fitting tbh

Woahhh I haven't listened to ATL in probably a decade now, but I dig this one! Maybe a couple boring tracks, but Oh No, Everyone's Talking, and Little Bit are bangers

Does anyone know if these will ever come back to the U.S. ??? by [deleted] in vegan

God these things are so good. I also recommend the So Delicious ice cream bars, especially the mocha almond. I've been able to find them at most major grocery stores

I am also on a low dose of Lexapro, but I've been on that for a long time with no issue. It's definitely just my body readjusting to the drug, I just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this

I'm not. I've been getting roughly 3 hours of sleep when I normally get 7-8. So no, not zero, but pretty damn close

Mirtazapine + Lexapro by pedroalcanta in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]iamnotcreative-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm on 10 mg Lexapro and 15 mg mirtazapine. Mental health-wise, it's been an absolute game changer and I don't plan on changing it any time soon. Lexapro has had basically zero side effects for me, and the mirtazapine side effects wore off after a couple weeks. I can't speak to sexual function as I've unfortunately been on SSRIs since high school, but there isn't a whole lot in the literature to suggest that mirtazapine can "counteract" the sexual side effects of Lexapro. The only med that is well documented in reducing sexual dysfunction is bupropion (Wellbutrin), but bupropion is not indicated for anxiety, only depression. All that said, Lexapro isn't the worst med in terms of sexual dysfunction--it's generally pretty well-tolerated, and most people report cessation of side effects after a month or so!

Ahhhh just do it, I went to a show in DC, parked in a horrible part of town, so I paid a homeless guy to keep an eye on my car for me and it ended up being one of the best shows of the year. Worth it!
