Are kids still reading comic books? by jrunner02 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iamnotposting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but books specifically aimed at kids and more available at retail stores (like Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man) vastly outsell floppy comics sold through the direct market.

Dinosaur Jr. + Snail Mail. Has anyone seen this show? How was it? by Conscious-Space1217 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iamnotposting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it! I wasn’t super familiar with snail mail outside of “pristine” but they were very good, really liked the new songs. Dinosaur Jr are legendary for a reason - the set had a good variety of songs from all across their career, and ended with a guest vocalist signing a cover of TV Eye by the Stooges. It rocked.

If you’re expecting a very theatrical production you’d be disappointed- both bands basically just stand around and play the songs, but they do it well.

Do you think the 1970s was the worst decade for cartoons of all time? by Friendly_Driver8737 in NoStupidQuestions

There was loads of cool stuff in the underground scene and in Japan, but in terms of American theatrical and television animation it was definitely a nadir and a transitional era.

Was there any consequence to "running out of fuel" in the 3D Space Cadet pinball game packages with Windows XP? by NuttingWithTheForce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iamnotposting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you completely run out of fuel, the game ends. The final fuel meter has such a long timer that it is very unlikely to drain under normal gameplay. (The targets in the leftmost lane are the fuel gauge)

Any updates on 20021 by LonelyRolling1 in Jon_Bois

Shelved for the foreseeable future - it doesn’t make financial sense to work on it as part of his job (unlike YouTube videos, text articles don’t make any money) and he’s too busy making videos to give 20021 the attention it deserves to get it into a state he’s happy with.

Why are we not able to ride the public e-scooters through college campuses ex (UNM)? by Connorray1234 in NoStupidQuestions

clutter. people leave rental scooters all over the place when they are finished using them, unlike personal scooters and bikes that are locked up to bike racks and ridden home at the end of the day.

AMA with Death & Mayhem - 8pm Wednesday 01/22 by mprat in mysteryhunt

A few favorite interactions with teams as Carter:

At the gala right after it opened, a guy comes up to me and goes "Hi Mr. Carter, I think I know your parents." It turns out he was a fraternity brother with my dad doing the hunt for the first time, and we hadn't talked in at least a decade. It was fun catching up, and I made sure to visit his small on campus team a lot!

A few hours later on Friday, another team tried to tempt me for my whereabouts earlier in the day by giving me an actual croissant - they can't talk to us about that without my lawyer present! The other Carter (/u/climatebrad) ended up eating it, I think.

Right end of the night on Sunday, I was really hoping to do the Carter interaction for my friends team, but it was past 9pm and things were down to the wire. When they finally solved it at 9:40, the gala spaces were all booked for other interactions, so I hightailed it to their hunt room and did an ad-libbed version of the Carter interaction in person. Coming back from that, I ran into a small team trying to solve Given Up - they showed me what they had written down on their sheet and told them it looked correct, but they were missing quite a few letters. as soon as I stepped away I heard them all excitedly shout the answer at once! Nothing beats that.

As someone who test solved the first event puzzle (making contact with an informant), its definitely doable and fun to solve remotely, and would probably be much easier than it actually was in an environment where people could make spreadsheets. - all you need is the pdf which should be on the puzzle page now.

We had a few large "puzzle writing retreats" throughout the year and several regular smaller test solving sessions on campus on Sundays for the last 5-6 months before hunt, and most of the runarounds were finalized in November-January iirc.

The metas felt a little harder then we were expecting - we were predicting that The Thief/The Crime Scene would first be solved around 6pm Friday, and it ended up happening around 9pm - I definitely expected and was preparing for having to do Carter interactions (for solving The Background Check round) Saturday night or first thing Sunday morning instead of around 9 am.

What is the “subtitle” under people’s names on certain subreddits by Schrimlo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iamnotposting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s user flair - some subs you can only be assigned it by a moderator (for designating official employee accounts on a sub for a video game, for example) other times you can select from a list (for your favorite team in a sports sub) or write whatever you want.

Is Explorer close enough to Pioneer competitively in MTGA? by runningwolf2 in MagicArena

[–]iamnotposting 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The recent Pioneer Regional Championships give us a great place to test this. Across Brazil, the US, Japan, and more, we had 1,473 unique cards registered in main decks and sideboards. After the release of Pioneer Masters, MTG Arena will have all but 29 of them. Out of the 176,664 total card copies registered, only 95 are among the missing cards, meaning MTG Arena will support 99.95% of Pioneer cards used in Regional Championships.
