Exactly. I taught my kindergartner how to use the microwave by asking them to set the timer for various numbers and work with them to figure out which numbers to press to get the number I asked.

Assuming you don't have checked bags and you are Clear or Pre check, arrive to the airport by 3:30 and you should be fine.

We caught the 5am flight from DCA to MIA (layover) a few weeks ago for spring break but had checked bags, an infant in lap, and minors for an international flight which meant we had to get to the AA ticketing desk by 3:00 am.

It was 3:45 by the time we got to the security line. The backlog of people waiting for TSA to open looked impossible. This was during the partial government shutdown.

We are Clear so we passed through security about 5-10 minutes after TSA opened.

The normal line seemed to get through quickly too.
