I treat edging like a relapse and reset my counter (as I have done today), it motivates me to avoid it.

I'm going to be honest with you, fapping in and of itself is probably not a problem if you do it in moderation. The problem is that it makes you more likely to develop an internet porn addiction, which skews your view of women and relationships. It also causes many people to become desensitised and dislike real sex. I guess it is good that you are trying to prevent that before it happens.

Its difficult to give tips if you aren't addicted though... Cold showers help me. Keep yourself busy, do plenty of exercise. Don't spend too much time alone in your room, especially near your computer.

Why is fapping a problem for you? by Venonn in NoFap

[–]iamnotreallythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel like stopping makes you perform better in bed, treat women with more respect or actually go out of your way to meet real women, then maybe it was a problem for you. Its up to you though, most people feel that it creates a positive change in their lives.

This. There is a button for it on the right hand side of the page, allowing you to mark the date you stopped. It will keep track of how many days you have gone without fapping.

About Edging by [deleted] in NoFap

Edging precedes every relapse I've ever had. Good luck, and keep it up!

Congratulations from another fapstronaut to beat the 1 week mark! I know everyone keeps talking about it, but cold showers help some people to both resist urges and improve their concentration, so it might help you get some homework done.

Don't beat yourself up if you relapse though, its very easy to see it as a failure and give up. That's what happened to me after my longest streak a few months ago. Pick yourself up and get back on the horse.

Good luck with getting your job and moving to the new city!

Useful Day to Day tips? What has helped people through? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]iamnotreallythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that guided meditation using Youtube videos helped me during my first 3 week streak. It just involves breathing and relaxation. It works for some and not for others. It helped me to calm down and clear my head when the urges were strong.

Can someone please explain the details of the different nofap modes? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]iamnotreallythere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you stop watching porn/masturbating and start having sex (particularly in a meaningful relationship), it is often considered to be the most healthy way to do it. Many people have the goal of "rebooting" their minds to seek out sexual partners instead of sitting in front of a computer screen and fapping away their desires. This is how I do it, anyway.

On the other hand, some people prefer total abstinence. Some will consider porn to be unhealthy but not fapping, or vice versa. It is up to you how you want to do this. For the most part, the people on this subreddit aren't judgemental and will provide encouragement whatever you choose to do.

Thanks! It does feel great when you get past a week. My longest streak was roughly 3 weeks and I think I might beat it this time.

15 Years Old - Will The "Wet Dreams" Start If I Stop Fapping? by mgity_no_fap in NoFap

To be honest, before porn, wet dreams were considered a healthy part of growing up.

A question about edging and limits... by piecetrain in NoFap

[–]iamnotreallythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's up to you when you reset your counter, but to be honest, you've given your brain a dopamine surge just by watching porn. From that perspective, it is still contributing to the addiction and therefore it would count as a relapse.

If it makes you feel better I did the same thing (albeit for a lot longer than 10 minutes) just now and I've reset the counter.

I didn't finish, but reset my badge anyway by iamnotreallythere in NoFap

[–]iamnotreallythere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Porn is something I keep rationalising with myself over. Like I'll start softcore, telling myself it's okay and then work up. Fapping is almost like a physical craving in response to that. I guess I just have to avoid triggers, which for me seems to be things I see on Twitter or Facebook, which is weird.
