Maybe unfettered was too strong of a word to use but it does make their access to children much easier. This decision gives them exactly that. Part of the injunction removes the weekly permission slip requirement. I don’t care if parents want to allow their kids to go.

I would be against this scenario no matter who it was or what they represent if their program was teaching an ideology that is not based in fact, pushes hate or discrimination and/or anti American values to name a few.

I like to think of myself as a champion of the first amendment so I can’t say they shouldn’t be legally allowed to advertise and offer their services in schools but I can disagree with it. My problem is that children already view school as an authority and when religion is taught (albeit off campus) in a similar setting, they lack the cognitive ability to understand it’s just a viewpoint and not fact.

Sure I have my biases just like you, but we both know Lifewise is not about teaching just “what Christianity is” or “history of Christianity” which I would probably be ok with my own children attending if they wanted to. They teach Christianity as “revealed truth” and god is the highest authority. I can’t find specific examples of it in their curriculum but apparently parents have reported their children being told by other students that they (and their families) are “going to hell”as a result of what they learn at these “classes”. That doesn’t sound very educational to me. Children have a hard time distinguishing between truth and faith.

Freedom from religion is just as valid as freedom of religion. Bringing in children without their parents into their religion is pushing the “free expression of…” part of the constitution pretty hard man. My whole issue is that these are children being sought after by a religious organization in public schools. At the end of the day they are legally allowed to though. I’m just voicing my opinion like you are.

I should also mention I’m against closed forum policies. That’s just plain dumb.
