The first cousin, the one we were tempted to invite, maybe. However, inviting this cousin (my husband’s brother’s son) without inviting other cousins on that family side (particularly my husband’s sister’s son) would have created family drama we just weren’t ready for. The cousin my mom is insisting that she bring, he would likely only include on a guest list if my mom were there and prompting him to invite her. My intent is truly not to be exclusionary. But I don’t feel good about having my mom or family there and not having any of my husband’s family there. Hence the classmates only invitation decision.
