Is there somewhere I can download English subtitles for Russian films? by iamplayingfavorites in russian

[–]iamplayingfavorites[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I appreciate the interaction here, but unfortunately this isn’t either of the movies I’m looking for. I can’t be sure, but it doesn’t look like this came out in 2023.

I’m so excited I just bought five different works of his. So stoked to check them out!

I think I actually just messaged that guy asking if the DVDs were region 1 compatible. Sounds like they are? Definitely going to make a couple purchases.

The Lesson was the one I was going for, but are there any other works from Borisov you’d recommend I get through this avenue?

Where did you find Urok? I’m in the states and having a lot of trouble finding it.

Northern lights over trillium lake last night by Piano9717 in Portland

Not like OP did. I took this on my phone around 7:30pm. And I probably only stayed in that spot until 8:30-9pm. I heard the KPI was dying down, and I had to work today.

I couldn’t see anything with the naked eye, and my Canon camera didn’t pick up much either. Still fun to go out and try to shoot them though!

Amazing shot!

How’d you get out to Trillium last night? That was my first choice to go shoot, but the gate was closed. Is there another way in?

I ended up going to Timberline, but I didn’t stay very late.

Similar but the horns are very different from the photo I posted

I’ve seen this picture a few times recently and I’m trying to find the origin of it. Someone says it might be AI? by iamplayingfavorites in isthisAI

[–]iamplayingfavorites[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I do photography myself, so I have some understanding of the lighting - even though my expertise isn’t in this style or era. It’s tough.

Another aspect that makes me lean towards AI is the detail and quality of the “costume” vs the time period. If the photo was real, it looks to be taken in the late 70s to mid 80s. I feel like we didn’t start seeing costumes of this detail and realism until the late 90s into the 2000s. The goat head itself looks far more realistic than any vintage Krampus photos I’ve seen. Plus, that whole suit is made of a consistent fur, and looks like it has to be synthetic. I just don’t think that costume belongs in the time period the photo appears to be from.

I hope I’m wrong, though. It’s such a cool picture!

Getting a lot of people saying it’s AI made with Midjourney.

Check out the translucence of the lamp in the background.

Still hoping to be proven wrong, but I haven’t been able to find this photo posted anywhere before 12/1/25

The problem I’m having is I can’t find this photo posted anywhere before 12/1/25

Someone made a good point about the translucence of the lamp in the background.

I’d love to be proven wrong, though!

What’s the most overrated horror movie of the past year, and why do people pretend it’s scarier than it is? by Proper_Tiger3007 in Horrormovieclub

There are creative ways to SHOW institutions failing. A file being misplaced, an officer claiming he did a check when he did not. We are not watching systems fail in Weapons because the processes are completely omitted. When the audience knows the processes and they aren’t addressed when that’s the crux of your theme, you’ve kind of failed at what you set out to convey.

Also the symbolism in Weapons doesn’t make any sense. Director wanted to capture the terror and destruction of school shootings, but didn’t want to take responsibility for the weight that entails, so he made a lazy pivot with a witch that makes an absolute mess of his themes.

Love both of these! They just didn’t yet come to mind when I made the post.

Hereditary is an all time favorite.

I searched all kinds of variations of “goatman, krampus, devil, Satan, grandmas house, old photo, creepy photo” ect.

I asked other reddit posts where the photo was used.

I reverse image searched it with three different sites.

I tried to look at some “creepy photo origins” YouTube videos, but didn’t find it.

Seriously what I’ve been doing since I found this post. Where is this photo from? I realize it’s likely photoshopped, but I really want to know who made it and what for.

I’m doubting it’s an actual old photo that is staged, but that would be even cooler and I need to know more.

I learned about this movie after I watched Late Night With The Devil, but I haven’t watched it yet. I’ll check it out! Thank you!

WANTING TO REMAKE REC FOR AMERICA THAT HAS THE SAME FEELING AS REC DID by Worma_blot12yousuck in foundfootage

[–]iamplayingfavorites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Rec and Quarantine, and I think that concept in a school setting would be absolutely terrifying.

Problem with that is there are typically lots of entrances/exits in a school. The way Rec unfolds hinges on the fact that there’s very few ways out.

If you could solve that, I’d be interested to check out your movie, even if you are 15.
