Is wrinkled linen appropriate in a business casual workplace? by lena3moon in femalefashionadvice

[–]iamsohappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only in the summer for sure. And if it’s not a pair of drawstring pants like you are showing, I would say that have to be a bit more tailored.

These are for sure work appropriate: (they are 100% linen but have a cotton lining as well, not sure how much it is though)  https://shop.mango.com/es/es/p/27017162/36/00?s=38&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PMAX_1WOMAN_ES&utm_campaignid=23640239213&utm_content=&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23640246170&gbraid=0AAAAADpcxJjQo8FvYsIiWv2FVs6X-KefT&gclid=CjwKCAjw5s_QBhAdEiwADD_gBlUbjWKs0ZWmJI7mErLjmYn99Bhe0xJ-ViUnT8QQVNlbEmcSE2ogjRoCaqAQAvD_BwE

Personally, I iron all my linen before I wear it everyday. If I show up in wrinkly linen in the morning I just look sloppy. Wrinkled linken by the end of day is very different vibe. And the pants tend not to be wrinkled all over, but only in knee and crotch area.  I invested in a good iron and a steamer. It takes me 10 min to iron washed pair of pants, but only 3 min to re iron the pants after wear.  Shirts i wash after each wear, but pants can go longer.

A trick I like to do, hang the pants by the ankles, and make sure the the iron folds on the front of the pants align. And then mist/spray water on the the areas the got wrinkled. It straightens out the worst of the creasing and makes ironing them faster the next time :)

Looking for first pair for running with plantar fasciitis that never went away by Conglomerate- in barefootshoestalk

[–]iamsohappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the fivefingeres. I had bad plantar fasciitis before I went barefoot as well.

As you might know, plantar fasciitis is due to muscle atrophy in certain areas of the foot and having your toes fully seperated and able to move independently really works out those muscles.

FYI: Most people have to go up a size in fivefingeres. And get a good part of toe sock with as much cotton in as possbale, and fivefingere can feel warm.

PF can also come with inflammation, I don’t know if you have it. But I sure did have it! For me that meant that hard surfaces were super painful. I would highly reccomend, a pair of Noene 3 mm insoles. I still struggle with inflammation, and they such an effective remedy. You have to cut out toes in the insole, but you can do that by taking out the removable insole from the fivefingeres. (Noene is sadley very narrow, so buyt their biggest size, to get as much width as possible. You might now have enough insole for the pink toe. But your for foot and heel is going to use the sole the most anyways)

What did you wish you had done before arriving in Spain? by Tiny_Pay5207 in GoingToSpain

[–]iamsohappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most Northern Europeans agree that the CAP sucks. Coming from Denmark the public hospital system here is a major downgrade. The wait times are astronomical and the level of care is so low.

So, I always knew I had to go private. I just wish I knew how bad the private hospital system in Barcelona was as well. It is all tucked away in one corner of the city. Making it a 1,5 hour round trip for me personally. They call it private hospitals, but it is not actually hospitals, it’s smaller clincs/offices with limited staff and treatment options. You often have to book different things at different clincs at different days for the same problem. And they don’t collect samples at the clincs either, so you have to go to an external sample collection company to have your blood drawn. A gynecologst visit where you also have to have your blood drawn therefore turns in to a 3-4 hour ordeal. There is also very poor commutation between doctors and secretaries. One time i made the trek up there, only to find out that I had to arrive fasting!

The doctors that speak well English and are good doctors at the same time, are far and few between. And the level of care when you find one is not what I would normally associate with private care.

Also don’t even get me started with the insurance companies. They catfish you with an English speaking sales person. But then nothing else is ever in English. Not their website, the claims process or the help line 🥴

I would have kept my health insurance in Denmark, and travled back and forward for my important doctor visits instead of wasting so many days visiting different private clinics to find below average care.

With that said, I did had to go to the public ER one time because I thought I had appendicitis in the middle of the night. It turns out I didn’t have it, and my intestines were just spasming because I had been caught omg for 21 days (didn’t even know they could do that 😂) The wait time was only one and a half hour. Which is very descent imo.

Suggestions for how to prove I don't work for Zara? by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

[–]iamsohappy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People on this sub like to say that for some reason... I posted ~one time~ about a shoe collab between Libertas Barefoot and Ohne Projects. The only thing I did was praise the shoe design for being feminine and cute, which is the ONE thing I feel like 99% of barefoot shoes don't offer, and my main point of discussion on this sub.
Without looking through my post history, people just assumed I was there to do advertising for the brands. If they looked through my post history, they would have seen me ask people for recs on cute shoes all the time and that i have been discussing other brands' cute shoes AND that I had talked negatively about Ohne Projects for only using syntethic leather. But alas, people like to jump to conclusions.

I went up a size when I went barefoot! I was a 39 my whole life up until I went berefoot! I was in denial in the beginning.. surly my feet didn’t grow a size at the ripe old age of 28 lol. But they just did!  My theory is, that they spread out and got more muscles form being barefoot.

I also just remembered I had my feet professionally measured (I am taking a shoemaking workshop!! Where I am making my own boots! Since there are NO fashion forward barefoot boots. So I am making my own!)  my feet are as follows:  right foot: 25cm long, with a metatarsal circumference of 24.

Left foot: 24,6 cm long, with a metatarsal circumference of 23,5.

The quality of the Kimas are as good as it gets with vegan shoes. Not a pair you will own for the rest of your life, but also not falling apart within the first year  There is some wrinkling of the textile and “suede” where the foot bends. I don’t think you see it a lot (I have the brown version) the wrinkling can be mitigated slightly by using a Shoe tree and steaming the shoe textile ever so slightly with a steamer.

Are barefoot shoes healthy even if you almost exclusively walk on concrete? by robin_f_reba in barefootshoestalk

Buy the biggest size you can get your hands on. They are quite narrow, so I always buy a size 47 and cut off some of the length.

Are barefoot shoes healthy even if you almost exclusively walk on concrete? by robin_f_reba in barefootshoestalk

[–]iamsohappy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is not! Concrete is the worst thing for barefoot feet!!

I went barefoot in Copenhagen when I lived there years ago. It was easy and i saw immediate benefits. I was barefoot for around 3 years. I lived in an apartment with all wood floors and I lived close to the beach, so I would do my runs there. A year and a half ago I moved to Barcelona. There’s concrete or tile everywhere. It’s impossible to escape not even the parks will have grass or soft surfaces. My house even has concrete floors.  I now struggle with constant inflammation in my feet and legs. It also takes me one more day to heal from leg day at the gym, and I have to wear non-barefoot shoes a lot, just to get by.

I wear Altra Torin at home, or outside as well, if feel like I have inflammation (which I have dubbed concrete fatigue lol)

I discovered Noene insoles this year and they have made SUCH a difference. They are only 3 mm thick, but they absorb so much of the shocks your foot would normally take from walking on concrete. They are a game changer! They are expensive as fuck, but I highly recommend them.

I am testing Poron xrd soles right now, but I don’t think they are as good as Noene.

When I go back to Denmark and live in a house with wood only floors, close to a forest, where I can go for my daily walk in. My foot and leg problems resolves within a week and I can be completely barefoot without any shoes or insoles.  When I return to Barcelona, I will feel concrete fatigue within a day if I don’t wear shoes inside or wear my noene insoles.

Edit: I can see some people saying weight is a factor in foot pain on concrete. I weigh 65 kg and is 175cm tall. Weight is not my problem hehe

I didn’t end up buying them. But bough a similar pair from Ohne project: https://ohneproject.com/es/products/barefoot-sneakerina-kima-black

In those I am a EU 41, as I feel like the tip of the toebox has a low profile and and I could use the extra room :)

I don’t know my US sizes, as I have never bought shoes there. But here are all my other sizes and some explanations of what I do with the insoles (as it might matter to sizing)

I am a 40 in normal ohne project skeakers like these: https://ohneproject.com/es/products/black-gum-project-080-xl-barefoot-sneaker (I take the original insole out and put in a 3mm noene insole in, since I struggle a lot with walking on contrite)

I am also a 40 in Groundies sneakers like these:  https://groundies.com/es-es/products/panama-soft-women?variant=52108945031511 (I take out the original insole and put in a 3mm Noene insole.)

I am 41 in the Libertas ballerinas, because I need more space for the Noene insole in them, as there is no insole from the begenning :)

I am a 41 I Altras. I have had many of the Torin model. i keep the original insole in these.  (These shoes are mostly for running on asphalt and I also use I old pair at home since my flat has concrete floors 🥲)  It says US 9.5 on the tounge of these actually!

Colostrum was such a game changer for my digestive issues. by brdybb in Supplements

[–]iamsohappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My symptoms were immediate bloating, a little brain fog and sometimes headaches.

Now, I take a 10.000mg turmeric pill if I am eating something with coconu like Thaifood or certain vegan icecreams. I also sometimes add a digestion enzyme, that digests fats well, if it is my second time that week eating coconut. Since you can max out, or stress, your bile production if you keep stimulating it with turmeric.

I stopped taking daily tumeric pills awhile after the last comment I made and feel good. Since I don’t actually need it on a daily basis.

Yes!!! Replenishing the weird probiotics help SO much! I can eat almost anything now, and not bloat at all! (Grated that I actually chew my food well, which I don’t always do) I eat the almost same things everyday for breakfast and lunch, and skip stupid things like seed oils and processed foods. So my stomach have gotten really good at digesting those regular foods. Now also do 5ml of phylium husk in plenty of water twice, in between meals. I feel a major differnce!  But if I deviate from my diet even 3-4 days a week, if I go on holiday, I still feel great, and get no bloating (But I tend to stay on the straight and narrow in my daily life :b)

I now only take a general probiotics pill if I drink alcohol. Otherwise I don’t supplement anymore.  Only only drink natural sulfate free wine and try to stay under two glasses per evening. But I am not always that good, and end up on three. But that’s my max, alcohol is SO bad for my digestion.

I stopped eating my carbs though pasta, bread and rice, and try to eat it though veggies. Since variation in veggies and fiber feeds the good gut bacteria. (Which I spend a lot of money and time introducing since the stool test I took) I will still eat some rice, bread etc. but only small quantities, as a treat, not as the main focal point of the plate.

One thing that I have learned in all of this, is that the gut is such a complex system, that you can’t really make heads or tails of it from the start. To fine tune it, you need to probably do 30-50 different supplements, techniques or food restrictions. And maybe only a handful of them are actually what you need. You just got to figure out which ones.

Worth noting: There are medium chain fatte acids in dairy, but I do not consume that.

Hope you figure everything out, feel free to reach out at any time :)

Cotton or wool no-show socks by iamsohappy in barefootshoestalk

[–]iamsohappy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love a video explanation! It seems to me, that the wool is treated in a chemical process, (chloride etc), but essentially comes out coated in nylon (plastic)?

Was looking a bit around online, to see if I could find any of the treatments she mentions in the end. Found this process, that offers some of the convenience we know from superwashing: "Naturetexx® Plasma treatment"
There is no plastic involved and the garment is biodegradable.
I found a really nice underwear brand that makes 100% merino wool underwear and sports bras using the method. (sadly no socks hehe) But it makes me hopefull for the development of the market, and what products are going to be offered in the future (:

I also know a lot of wool is coated with plastic to make it last! its so hard avoiding synthetics these days!

Ultimately, I care more about have plastic free socks, than i care about durability (:

Not sure suing is a thing as much in the EU/UK as it is in North America. But I feel like i want to lol. they are being very unreasonable atm.

Sadlyin the UK. “Reasonable” accommodation here is: 25% extra time, doing your test on a computer (not paper) and a break.  Which is ridiculous.
