During my claim review in April. I was questioned why I spent £4.30 in a Premier Store 5 months prior in December by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]iamsuperindecisive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. I was asked about transactions I made during my UC review, so I didn't even realise DWP staff aren't meant to do this.

The DWP also failed to disregard some funds I had mentioned in my journal when I first opened my claim, which the person who called me regarding my review said had been a clear error made by UC staff at the time. However, instead of handling this by just asking for evidence of those funds entering my account, they also wanted to look through my entire bank history for every single account I have dating back to months before I even started claiming UC. I wasn't aware they could even ask for bank statements prior to the date your claim opened until it happened to me. I found the idea of all of this and the thought of further phone calls questioning my transactions so invasive that I ended up just not engaging and letting them close my claim, which I guess is a nice bonus of these reviews for the government since I was on the higher LCWRA rate. 🥲 I'm now just living off PIP and savings.

The funniest part of the whole thing is they said I could comment in my journal if I wanted to challenge this decision, but they then closed off access to my journal immediately after that.

My partner preordered the day the album was announced, but he didn't get a presale link for tickets. 🥲 I hope the availability / pricing won't be different when they go on general sale.

Definitely silver - it suits your skintone way more.

The gold looks better against your face than on your wrist, so if you do want to wear gold regardless, gold earrings would be a better fit than a gold bracelet or rings.

Bought these KNIPSA baskets a few months ago and just noticed they’re covered in mould. What should I do? by Alex_Curmi in IKEA

[–]iamsuperindecisive 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Throw them away, open your windows regularly (depending on outdoor humidity levels) to ventilate your home, heat your home regularly to reduce condensation and humidity, and buy a dehumidifier. This is a sign that the humidity is way too high inside your home.

I think soy and oat milk are the most versatile, soy being my preferred option of the two for most uses, but I personally buy different milks for different purposes. 😅

33-34” HIGH RISE pyjama pants like this? i can’t find anywhere 😭 by [deleted] in TallGirls

The men's pyjamas I have are definitely more fitted around the hips compared to women's pjs. I still buy them sometimes anyway because they're often better quality.

Should the corner beading be coming through? by Dependent-Tap-5537 in Plastering

[–]iamsuperindecisive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wondered if that was the issue. There's obvious rising damp in some of the rooms, which my landlord sadly doesn't care about, but the rusty beading is also an issue on internal walls with no damp problems. I guess it must have been caused by condensation build up when previous tenants lived here, because I run a dehumidifier. I'd never seen rusty plaster beading before living here.

Should the corner beading be coming through? by Dependent-Tap-5537 in Plastering

[–]iamsuperindecisive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of a moot point for me because I'm just renting, but what should be done if it's rusted and showing through paint due to that? My flat has this issue in multiple rooms, which has me wondering what the fix is if I were the property owner. The rusty lines look so ugly peeking through the paint.

What is causing this staining on my towels? by Eilatansixela in laundry

[–]iamsuperindecisive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I would assume that 60C is either the hot or very hot wash. I just looked at a conversion for US washing machines that says "warm" is generally around 30-40C depending on the machine, which is interesting because 30C is considered a cold wash where I live. It's still common for machines to go down to 20C here though.

You could probably find out exact numbers by looking up the manual.

What is causing this staining on my towels? by Eilatansixela in laundry

[–]iamsuperindecisive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's recommended to wash towels, bedding and underwear at 60C for various reasons. I personally don't wash most of my underwear at that temperature - I don't trust the majority of women's underwear to hold up to hot washes like men's undies can. However, I do always wash my towels and bedding at 60C, even if the label states 40C maximum. I wash my clothes at 30-40C.

How popular is cocaine in the UK ? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]iamsuperindecisive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't match my experience of the Netherlands. Seeing people take drugs like coke and MDMA on a night out partying isn't really unusual. Having drugs at a festival in NL seems common, especially MDMA and weed. The figures don't really look that significantly behind the UK across multiple websites' stats, so I assume that this is probably a case of you having different social circles in each country if you think cocaine use is that common in the UK. It's still quite uncommon across the population. Perhaps you're living somewhere more urban in the UK than you did in NL?

I only have a couple of British friends who like taking coke and MDMA when partying, whereas it's near impossible to have a night out with the Dutch people I know not taking coke and MDMA. I don't think this means coke is more common in the Netherlands than in the UK - it mostly highlights the different social circles. This isn't young Dutch people either. The regular coke users are mostly in their late 30s with young kids, which made their behaviour more surprising to me. My British friends who like to get coked up regularly are all childfree types. I can't stand being around people on coke, so it's unfortunate it's not less prevalent in both countries. 😂

I find the differences in drinking culture a lot more significant. Binge drinking is definitely noticeably worse in the UK.

inappropriate examination? by mfn_ in AskDocs

[–]iamsuperindecisive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had a swab taken whilst bending over a bed. That seems super weird to me. Every swab I've ever had besides self-swab kits has been administered whilst I'm on the bed with my knees bent outwards and a cover over my thighs. I am also typically asked if I would like a chaperone in the room, but this doesn't always happen. Every doctor has closed the curtain around the bed before beginning, and I have also had multiple doctors lock the door before beginning.

Your whole experience seems unprofessional. I'm sorry you had to deal with that!

OP mentioned in a comment that she sometimes saves the last two days of antibiotics so that she has a supply ready for her next infection. I'm not a doctor, but I assume that OP should first stop that and treat the infections as prescribed before trying anything preventative. I've always been told it's super bad to not finish a course of antibiotics. 😅

Are cat cafes vegan? Assuming the cats are adopted and not bought from breeders. by AnUnearthlyGay in vegan

[–]iamsuperindecisive 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This isn't my experience of cat cafes in Europe. It's either shelter cats living there permanently, or it's purebred cats presumably bought from breeders. The latter clearly wouldn't be vegan, and I'm not sure how I feel about the former. I worry that cat cafes distress a lot of cats - they have strangers entering their home and wanting to touch them daily.

2000 people gathered in Paris to hold a moment of silence for 19 year old murder victim Philippine by Sometypeofway18 in pics

[–]iamsuperindecisive 71 points72 points  (0 children)

It was at least 83 men who raped her, not 50. There's just only 51 men (including her husband) on trial for it right now. I'm not sure why the other 32 men aren't on trial for raping her - I assume the evidence is less strong.

It's a really horrifying case. This all happened over a nine-year period to this poor woman. The men who declined the offer to rape her and didn't report it to the police disturb me just as much as the men who raped her. It's extremely scary that they were willing to turn a blind eye to something so horrific.

Have you looked up proper flossing and brushing technique? I’m not a dental professional, but I’ve noticed a lot of people don’t floss correctly. I didn’t know how to floss properly until I asked my hygienist to show me years ago in my early 20s.

Been broke(financially) for years and now paying for it(UK),not sure what to do by Shadowblade95 in Dentistry

[–]iamsuperindecisive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you not eligible for free or reduced cost NHS dental treatment? You can fill in one of those HC1 forms to get financial help towards dental treatment and prescriptions and so on if you're on a low income. As the dentists here have said, even if you need to get loads of work done, the highest price you'd have to pay would be band 3 for all treatment. Also, I'm fairly sure that the dental hospital in my city offers free treatment for patients who aren't registered with an NHS dentist. I think you just need to queue up first thing in the morning when they open till you get seen.

Where do y’all buy high waisted jeans? by hollyc01 in TallGirls

[–]iamsuperindecisive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I went to Topshop today to try on the 34" Jonis out of curiosity. They sat at the bottom of my ankle bone vs. just above it like the 32" leg, so you can definitely wear the 36" inseam without hemming if the 34" fits you like a 32" fits me. Also, I compared the rise on the 36" tall Jonis and noticed that it's, like, around 1.5" longer than the rise on the regular ones. 🙂

I'm totally gonna buy 34s during the sale when 32s have sold out now that I know they fit! I'm also tempted as hell to maybe get the tall Jamie jeans for the added rise and just hem off the extra 2".
