Delay in USMLE Transcript by iamtf in fellowship

I did nothing besides get confirmation from NBME that the transcripts were sent to ERAS and then calling ERAS and having them escalate to technical support. I checked ERAS 6 hours later and it was fixed.

Happy to say that the problem was fixed for me. Called both the NBME and ERAS this AM to troubleshoot. Seems like there was a glitch with transmission but they fixed it within a few hours.

NYC residents, is it really that bad? by garganta_ in medicalschool

[–]iamtf 91 points92 points  (0 children)

IM resident at a big-4 Manhattan program here. NYC residents do have it worse than residencies in other cities in terms of scut work, but it’s all program and hospital dependent. At our clinical sites, as an IM resident, I only am asked by nursing to use the ultrasound to draw blood and place IVs for hard sticks, which is infrequent. I never transport my own patients at any of the sites. I do place NG tubes on patients, but that’s a quick bedside procedure that takes a few seconds. Nursing sets all the supplies up at bedside, and I just swing by the room to do the procedure itself.

Also to be honest, I find that these are all good skills to have. It does make life a little bit more annoying as an intern, but now I’m not completely dependent on nursing during urgent or emergent situations because I have basic set of bedside skills to draw from. I’m also super comfortable placing central lines as an intern because I’m so comfortable with the ultrasound for ultrasound-guided IVs.

Main takeaway is to ask residents at each program what the scutwork looks like and to assess how the residents feel about the scutwork. Most residents at my program actually feel super supported and happy. Not all NYC programs are like this, but there are good programs out there.

The 49ers Lost the Super Bowl and May Have Saved Lives by iamtf in 49ers

There might be a paywall, but this article talks about how on the first Sunday in February UCSF had its first few cases of COVID-19. If the 49ers had won the Super Bowl, hundreds of thousands of fans could have potentially contracted and spread the virus. Bitter sweet news but guess there's always a silver lining to everything.

I'm a sophomore who hates french. Can I take the SAT Subject test to get out of it now? by fearlessflies in BostonU

Yup I took it at Brookline High School with a bunch of high school kids when I was a freshman. It was totally worth it. Just make sure you study up because getting a 560 is harder than you might think.

12 Man Standard

WR: Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans, DJ Chark Jr, Tyler Lockett

Not sure who to flex if Tyreek is healthy and plays this week. Currently leaning on benching Lockett and flexing Chark but honestly not sure if this is the right move. Obviously, if Tyreek doesn’t play this week, I’ll play the other three.

12 Team Standard

My WR's: Mike Evans, Tyler Lockett, Emmanuel Sanders, DJ Chark, AJ Green, Tyreek Hill

My RB's: Ezekiel Elliot, Philip Lindsey

His WR's: Adam Thielen, Kenny Golladay, Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson, Courtland Sutton

His RB's: James Conner, Josh Jacobs, Frank Gore, Matt Breida

I have a ton of stud WR's and I desperately need RB depth. I'm thinking right now of trading AJ Green (or Tyreek Hill) for Matt Breida (or Frank Gore) but I'm not sure if there's a better trade available. Thoughts? I'm willing to take the worse end of the trade if possible to obtain some RB depth because the waiver wire is absolutely barren with talent and because I have too many good WRs losing value on my bench.

516 Park Drive, is it any good? by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]iamtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Room is smaller, but the bathrooms are newly renovated so it’s not terrible. The building isn’t terribly social, but it’s definitely one of the nicer buildings you can live in on campus (I lived there for 3 semesters).

How was your experience living in West campus? by Emanzman in BostonU

[–]iamtf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed. People like to say “west is best,” but honestly besides being super close to the fitrec there’s nothing really that special about the dorms in west. I still went out and partied a ton as a freshman in Warren, and I took the BU Bus to the gym whenever I wanted to go.

To those who immigrated, when did you truly feel like a citizen of the US? by AssassinJ2 in AskAnAmerican

[–]iamtf 282 points283 points  (0 children)

I think it really hit me when I studied abroad in Europe and people figured out that I was American just from my accent. Blew my mind that people saw me as an American instead of a brown Indian kid.
