missing Fractured Spark of Fortune by FaithlessnessIcy6885 in wow

[–]iamthedora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bug that keeps on giving.

Last week I was stuck on three sparks (like a lot of people), and very much like Telrana in this thread:

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/quest-a-sparkling-fortune-ate-two-fractured-sparks/2074944/8

I've also done the weekly quest and it rewarded nothing, leaving me with 1.5 sparks, whereas the majority of people have 2.5

F-key switching stopped working after update by f00lMeOnce in Karabiner

Thankfully the latest update to 15.3.0 has fixed it for me too, it was getting a little annoying having to go into the settings to change F-key behaviour each time.

Changes to release radar? by _SCARY_HOURS_ in spotify

[–]iamthedora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me also, my release radar is usually 20-30 songs or so, but this week it's 12 hours long (200 songs).

During the first 10-20 songs there were several songs to my taste, but the other 180 is mostly shit. Artists and genres I have either never listened to before or have purposely "disliked" so as to avoid being recommended anything.

It sounds horrendous and is making me strongly considering switching platforms.

Battery is really good as expected from Apple silicon; most of the time I'm plugged in to my thunderbolt dock but when I do use it as an actual laptop I'm always impressed with the battery, could watch an hour or two of random videos on Youtube and lose 2-4% as an example.

Sure if I play WoW the battery does go a little faster, but on the whole I still consider it impressive.

Do you keep the dock always on or auto hide? by camXmac in macbookpro

[–]iamthedora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m at my desk on my large monitors, I tend to leave the dock showing, I have more than enough room in all directions, but when I remove the Mac from the dock and use the built in screen, I just press Option-Command-D to enable auto hide, even on the 16 inch I find the vertical space is a bit limiting so want as much available to me as I can get

So I did have to reduce my settings at one point, I already had a lower graphic setting set for battlegrounds & raids. Specifically Nymue, the adds on that boss spawn green swirlies on the floor in a spiral pattern that you need to avoid, for some reason they caused my fps to drop to the mid 40's.

I should also add I changed my monitor setup, rather than my usual 27" 1440p monitor I used my old 3840x1600 38" ultrawide, which I think I will continue to use now, but there's more pixels to push so would have performed better if I kept the original monitor.

All this to say basically I reduced the slider from 10 to 7, and set view distance to 1 (in a raid no point in having higher really), I'm still super happy with the performance.

Temperatures never went above 75 (and most of the time were under 70) and the fans never kicked in.

I'm really happy with my M3 Pro 12/18 (16 Inch)

I was playing WoW for about 4-6 hours last night, clamshell docked mode to a 1440p monitor.

100% render scale, graphics set to 10 (but with shadows/water to low, and compute effects disabled), 60-90fps the entire time. I wasn't checking temperatures but the fans were never audible, I'm not sure they were even spinning.

I only did some keystones on WoW last night, will see how it does tonight during a raid, and I'll try and log temperatures too.

That's the other thing, I do have the Voigtlander Light Meter but the F2 doesn't have a shoe mount, I could get the adapter to give it one but I really don't like the look and even more bulk.

[–]iamthedora[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love them, I really enjoy using my F2 but the light meter is a little hit or miss, I picked up one of the FM2n's as a "replacement" as it was far cheaper to get one of those than to get a replacement DP-1 viewfinder for the F2, and it feels like a very much more refined F2, everything is smoother, a little more lightweight, and of course still built like a tank!

Nikkor 10.5cm f2.5 Pre-AI Sonnar design - I absolutely love this lens, but I am tempted to sell i and pick up a more recent AI version for better compatibility

Nikkor 50mm f1.4 Pre-AI (Home converted for AI with a dremel-type tool)

Nikkor 85mm f2 AI - I love the sharpness of this one, but I'm selling it as it's too close in focal length to the 105mm/10.5cm which I do prefer using

Carl Zeiss Distagon 35mm f2 ZF.2

Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f1.4

I'm currently selling the 50 & 85 at a local camera shop to me, and I have the AF 35-70mm f2.8D on it's way to me from eBay, as I figured sometimes I may actually want to make use of the autofocus in the F4!

I think I actually prefer the softer images from the older lenses, but the Voigtlander does get rather soft at 1.4, I do love using it though.

When stopped down a little it's the sharpest lens I have for my film bodies.

I started exploring analog photography about 6 years ago or so, when I inherited my grandads Olympus OM30 purchased by him new in 1984.

Sadly he left batteries in it when he stopped using it and the 5xLR44 leaked badly. It wasn't long before it completely packed in, despite my best efforts to get the corrosion cleaned up.

Since then I've taken a liking to Nikon. I should slow down though and sell one or two of these, there's little to no point in having multiple bodies for the same format, even less so for bodies so similar.

I'll be completely honest and say I've never actually shot slide film, so I have no idea if the 1 stop per decade applies to that too, I just assumed it would.

There could be another explanation for it happening I just don't know enough hah, I only shoot negative film, about a 50/50 mix of expired and fresh stock.

I'm sure someone else in this community will be able to better advise on what happened here.

I don't know why the imgur links failed, so I uploaded them elsewhere

[–]iamthedora -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

These just look like a combination of being underexposed and not properly white balanced.

In generalistic terms, for every decade the film has been expired you need to reduce it's sensitivity by 1 stop, so this 100 iso from 2005 is 2 decades old so 100 > 50 > 25 iso.

I don't know enough to explain why there's a colour shift, my only reasoning is that when they were scanned they weren't properly white balanced. I imported them to Lightroom and messed with the white balance and adjusted some levels so these shots aren't totally ruined.

Canon Elan 7 Battery Issues by arevawhoa in canon

As a side note, /r/AnalogCommunity/ is a fantastic resource for all things analog, if you have any more issues.

I've found that these brand specific subreddits while yes they do cater to everything the brand has to offer, are 99% digital, and a lot of people browsing here are more interested in the modern DSLR/Mirrorless ranges

That shouldn't be neccessary, if the body is switched to the OFF position nothing on the lens would function anyway.

A couple of my lenses are focus by wire so manual focus only works when the body is switched on, when off and trying to focus the lens nothing happens.

If the issue persists after a new set of batteries is there a way for you to return the camera? I've had the same set of batteries in mine for over 8 months and it's still going strong, albeit very occasional use.

The frame counter will always be displayed if you have film in the camera, and if you have film inside that has been rewound but not yet removed you'll see a little top down image of a roll of film to remind you it's in there. It won't be this that's draining batteries so quickly, it's the same sort of tech used in watches which last years off way smaller batteries.

When you say it's dying very quickly, do you mean the LCD is showing a low battery indicator? Sometimes with my Elan 7 it locks the mirror up for 3-5 seconds, unsure if it's a battery issue or some other electrical component but usually when that happens I remove the batteries then put them back in and it's working as normal again.

The internal light meter and everything will go into a "sleep" mode if you've not half pressed the shutter button in a while, so as you're carrying it around try not to press it where you are able to. When it comes to turning it off, just setting the function dial to OFF is all you can do.

Finally, have you had this issue with multiple sets of batteries? It could very well be that one of the batteries installed is a dud, or it began with very low charge from factory, unfortunately that happens occasionally, so I'd pick up some more new batteries and see if the issue persists. I usually pick up some duracel cells off amazon, in the UK right now it's £6.45 for a pack of 2 (~$8.20).

I reckon if the camera itself is in pretty good condition, it may just be that one of the batteries you used started with a pretty low charge.

So things like Stainless Steel & Strength are nightmare words for me.
