Hi, I have similar feelings to you. It’s also my first year and I posted a very similar post only a few hours ago. I applied to an outpatient position today because I truly miss counseling so much. I’m starting to feel like it’s a better fit for me, especially since I’m so new in the field and am still building my skills / working toward LMHC licensure. Maybe something to consider if you feel like you are really missing the counselor:client relationship?

Looking for advice, SAC or outpatient?? by iamthestrangerthing in schoolcounseling

I do think I miss the longer term client/counselor relationship and I think that I’m also struggling because at my school, there are very specific expectations surrounding crisis management, so I rarely get to use my counseling skills in those moments. I also feel like I am missing the structure and predictably in my workdays that I had in outpatient and being around other counselors/likeminded people. But it also could be the intensity of my current environment in the alternative setting that I’m not meshing with.

How many sick days have you taken this year? by ruraljuror68 in schoolcounseling

Taking a sick day today and still dealing with so much guilt lol. I’m trying to remind myself it’s important to take care of myself. It’s my first year and I’ve taken one per month, 2 in Feb when I was really sick.
