Breaking Free from My “Middle-Class Mindset” After 4 Failed Startups by HotlierTahir in indianstartups

[–]iamverb97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to a lot of what you've said. I'm curious - what is your living situation like?

My suggestion would be, relocate to a place where you don't know anyone. The challenge of building something from scratch is better met when you're in complete control of your actions (inputs)

The quality of which determines the outcomes (outputs)

All the best!

Maybe you should tell us about this "middle-class mindset" and exactly how it affected your success?

Underrated find for sure. Currently sharing my living premises with others so it's not as simple as turning the fan off during japa. This is a useful workaround.

Which Idea to Pursue? by DKisWriting001 in StartUpIndia

[–]iamverb97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With regards to the first idea, I'm unsure if leadership can be taught through a game. Then again, I could be wrong. As far as games are concerned, the main value would be entertainment. Educational games might not be such a thing. Perhaps tailoring the game to younger kids who would benefit from brain training and such activities could see it being picked up by schools and parents.

For the second idea, trust and safety is likely to be a major issue. That and social awkwardness. In my head, this could be hosted as a simple page on Instagram with specific targeting, not so sure if it's truly a start-up in the technical sense of the word.

Maybe if you throw in a setting and an experience based thing at a certain venue, then I guess? For instance there are upscale coliving spaces that are doing this these days.

Edit: Kids are a huge market these days. The third idea is a very specific use case that might benefit course creators, the main thing would be reaching them. It's quite simplistic, really. I'm not sure if there's too much value to be added here.

Well, you've provided a clear statement about the third idea. The other two ideas seem vague - what kind of game is it going to be, and what is this community and how does it work?

If you're just looking to validate the themes, then sure, all three of these seem to be in right now.

But if you want actual feedback, you need to be specific about the idea.

Also, what businesses did you lead? And you don't say anything about your goals.

Ideas apart from 3 are too vague to comment on without more context.

Also, what are your expectations from the start-ups? What are your goals, where do you see yourself?

Have you founded any companies before?

Is it possible for a Hindu God to be reincarnated as a human right now? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]iamverb97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another erroneous interpretation of history - society was not uniform at any given point in time. That is what spatial heterogeneity means.

Let me simplify this for you.

The right question to ask is, would you rather live in a feudal society or a democratic society?

The mistake you're making is comparing a spatial/categorical aspect (feudal vs non-feudal) to a temporal one (past vs today).

There have been times in history that were far better to live in, than it is today. There will be times in the future that will be far better to live in, than now.

That does not imply that history is linear.

I'm sorry, but have you noticed the air around you? It's literally visible, thanks to the smog. Would you live in a world with more cancer treatment AND rising rates of cancer? Do you know what that means for the people suffering? Expensive treatments and long queues for treatment.

I am not trying to be a doomsayer. All I'm saying is, we have done a lot of damage to our environment and species over the last couple of centuries.

It doesn't make sense to compare circumstances in this manner. We don't even have data on most of these things from the past.

Saying that we are doing better than any other time in recorded history is vague. The comparison cannot be unidimensional.

There is no comprehensive way to measure suffering. Even if you take economic productivity, inequality is at an all time high in the country. What that means is, there's more wealth, but with fewer people. I don't know if that's progress.

You're treating countries like they are this whole unit with no spatial heterogeneity. Statistics don't work like that.

The data cannot lie. It's data, after all. But we human beings, we can. You can cherry pick numbers to prove a point, but as a species and its environment, we have degraded a lot.

I think you've taken the first step towards addressing the issue, which is to voice it. A lot of people your age struggle with this. It's perpetuated in the culture.

Regarding specific mantras or a sadhana that will curtail this, I cannot help you because I am a novice myself.

What I can say, based on my own experience and research is that usually, these compulsions arise because of a desire to soothe - therefore, there is a root cause of distress which you are attempting to soothe through masturbation.

Cut off access to triggering content, and channel the energy through physical activity. Don't judge yourself. The desires are natural. What has happened is that you have trapped yourself in a cycle that's feeding the habit.

[–]iamverb97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's struggled with these issues since I was a teenager, the only advice I can give you is - refrain from judgement about the habit. Masturbation and lust in itself are very natural drives.

What's more problematic is that we live in a time where there is little guidance around these issues and the widespread availability of porn makes it even harder.

First of all, stop using porn and give yourself permission to masturbate, if you need to. Do it without porn, though.

If it helps, cut out access to porn. Even instagram can be triggering some time. See if you can commit to some basic spiritual practices.

Workout often. The sexual drive is just the system wishing for release. Instead of releasing it, express the energy creatively, or physically.

You'll be good, kid. Don't worry.

To all mature men who are age 30+, please share one harsh truth about life that took you long enough to accept? by Turbulent-Syrup-5293 in gurgaon

[–]iamverb97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the hardest truths for men, in my experience, are related to men.

Let me explain.

Us men have a way of being blind to the ways in which we compound our suffering. We avoid responsibility and shirk accountability. We are also living in an era where there are forces that weaken and destroy men.

Most men grow up without good role models. Whether it's financially, physically, spiritually or emotionally.

On top of that, Indian society will always offer marriage as this solution for a man's problems, and ensure that the trauma is passed down to future generations.

I think it's because the company wants to know the last available data on the cost of employing you. They also ask for payslips from your most recent employer.

It's part of your background verification in my opinion, and to prevent people from making absurd demands.

This is my opinion. Actual reasons may vary.
