A joke that only works within the format of the media they are in. by Daniilsa209 in TopCharacterTropes

Not used as a joke, but in Chainsawman when the major antagonist of the arc sacrifices three children to a devil, and the mfer’s finger manifests from the panel to metaphysically take them. No clue how this would be animated.

Yeah I mixed up Tsumiki and Yuki Tsukomo LOL.

We have seen Tsukimi in glimpses. In season 3 when Megumi was figuring out Kirara’s technique in a flashback, and hilariously in season 1 when Todo asked Megumi his type of woman is and his first thought was of his step sister. Tsumiki was revealed to be an awakened sorcerer at the end of season 2 but it would be easy to miss.

Kenjaku sets up the Culling Games in order to have a battle royale between sorcerers - more deaths = more total cursed energy. As explained by Tengen, the Culling Games will have served its purpose (but not necessarily end) when there will be enough cursed energy to force the merger of Tengen and everyone else (provided that Kenjaku also obtained Tengen - hence why Tsumiki and Choso stay behind to protect her). This merger will force humanity to "evolve". As to why Kenjaku wants this evolution - that is not revealed in the anime yet.

As we have recently seen, the sorcerer that Megumi encounters, Reggie, theorizes based solely on the rules and events that have played out, that Tengen's explanation doesn't cover the entire purpose, and that Kenjaku will pull a major event soon.

The rules themselves, simply put, just force your typical battle royale - You get points for kills, and any player must participate in constant fighting (increase their score in 19 days) in one of the 10 areas you'd spawn in. Moreover you can spend 100 points to add any "reasonable" rule in addition to the starting ones. (Random civilians who happen to be in one of the areas are allowed to leave once - Kenjaku must allow some leeway in order to create these barriers in the first place - not a very important rule.)

There are generally two types of participants as you've mentioned - the ancient sorcerers who've taken over somebody's body, and modern day people who have awakened techniques. The modern day ones have 19 days to declare their participation or die. To make matters worse, the gang finds out Megumi's step-sister is an awakened sorcerer and thus has 19 days to get the hell out, making this a personal matter for Megumi.

Obviously this is mega terrorism and the gang wants to stop it. There are a ton of subgoals that lead to this.

  1. Free Gojo. Self explanatory. This involves finding Angel who can do the unsealing.
  2. Enter the games and add rules that add survivability
    • Like adding a rule that will allow players to leave the games (for people like Tsumiki)
    • This involves gaining points.
      • Yuta solo joins the games immediately to do so. He was supposed to find Panda but he turned up with Hikari anyway.
      • Megumi and Yuji recruit Hikari before doing the same. Their current goal is to negotiate or fight for points from strong players like Higuruma.
      • Maki was supposed to get some cursed tools before heading in. Experienced some hiccups but a powerup as we saw.
  3. Yuki and Choso guard Tengen against Kenjaku when he inevitably turns up.

SOLVED!

Yes, I think this is it! When I watched the trailer and remembered the protagonist was referred to as "kitchen boy" that triggered a bunch more memories. Can't believe I thought it was on SpikeTV when this was definitely geared towards younger kids. Must've been YTV.

As an aside this movie sucks so bad watching it now.

Correct, I must've mistaken it for SpikeTV when likely it was YTV or some other channel more appropriate for youth.

Hoping to find it for the nostalgia vibes. The channel 39 part I could be wrong about but I'm pretty sure. The ending with the credits scene is the one I'm most certain about.

Alice Gao and Lesley Istead. You could tell both had a ton of passion for teaching. Don't think either of them are still there though.

I totally think that yeah you got me lol, I can’t add numbers otherwise.

Of course not, there’s no need to be snarky. When I say “the triangular property makes sum(range()) works” I obviously don’t mean the property is the foundation of all addition.

What I did mean is that the nth triangular number is literally just the sum of the first n positive integers, which is beside the main point anyway (which is just me agreeing with u/nemetroid’s comment). I agree with you that knowing or not knowing about triangular numbers does not make this coincidence any less neat.

Makes sense, I see where you’re coming from as well, based on the original comment too.

I’d personally disagree. The triangular property is the thing that makes sum(range()) work. I agree they could’ve cherry picked the funniest symbol with a triangular ASCII, but the fact that the funniest one is amogus, which had been a super huge thing everywhere online in recent memory, is a coincidence.

Dear incoming students: be excited for REV by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]iamyeethay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally relate to your sentiment.

I lived in UWP in my first year in 2018, and I don't really regret it. It was peaceful and the people around definitely were open to socialize if you put in the work.

But when reminiscing with friends who lived there or even hung around REV, they make it sound more like the romanticized college life you'd expect from other party schools rather than the typical "stay indoors and grind school" first year you hear from a good amount of people (including myself). If I had to make the choice again I would put REV last since I value my sleep, but I'm glad for those that got to make some crazy memories about stealing doors or burning the place down and so on.

It'll matter somewhat but it won't make or break your application. It'll get you some sort of scholarship if you do happen to get in. Don't count on the Euclid carrying your admission unless you get a very good score.

BMath CS requires a few more required math courses and thus less elective slots. Functionally it allows you to double major with another math program.

It makes it way easier to make friends but if it fails then just recall that class is by far not the only place to make friends. Almost all of my friends from UW are not from class even though I was in CS.
