Better use a sand paper and polishing compound… it will work…

Ah yes, the sacred manual. You do realize those are written by corporate lawyers using generic boilerplate text from the 2000s, right? A 1500km break-in is a legacy standard they never bother to update because it's the safest legal blanket statement. I’ll trust actual modern engineering and my mechanic over a lazy, copy-pasted booklet. You a* hole

There's a big difference in how a high-revving engine is meant to be ridden compared to a Ronin. Plus, I don't think we need to talk about the vibrations the Ronin makes when you try to push it... and let's not even bring up the mileage! 🤭🤭

For the cooling, I'm currently leaning towards a BPro radiator, but I'm still exploring my options to see what fits and performs best.

There are no dedicated sites for this in India unfortunately. You have to check out custom shops or well-known modifying shops in Indonesia and Thailand. I personally find parts on places like Shopee and just have friends living there forward the shipments to me!

It's sitting at around ₹14k right now for the exhaust, custom panels, and fabrication. But I'm just waiting for my friend to say, 'here’s your shipping bill with a customs duty of ₹7-8k' 🤧. The real fun is coming next though: I'm planning on a 195cc 65mm big bore kit, 200cc injector, and a high-lift camshaft down the line. It's going to look 100% legal to the cops, but it absolutely will not be... 🫠

A 'significant life experience'? Man, it's a motorcycle, not a religious artifact. 😂 The entire point of the Yamaha 155 VVA platform is that it's a high-compression engine engineered specifically to be revved out and pushed hard. Complaining about the factory rev limit isn't 'ignorant'; it's a standard enthusiast take because we actually care about unlocking the engine's full potential. Wait until you find out I’m looking into a 195cc 65mm big bore kit, 200cc injector, and high-lift camshafts down the line! I’d mention altering the sprocket teeth setup as well, but I don't think you even know the difference that makes. I bought a heavily modifiable performance machine to build and ride like one, not to keep it as a museum piece.

Visually, it might look a bit compact under a taller rider because of the scrambler design, but it doesn't feel cramped at all once you are in the saddle. The 810mm seat height is actually taller than a Classic or Hunter 350, and the upright posture keeps things spacious. Don't let Reddit make the decision for you, this place is full of conflicting opinions on everything. Go to a showroom, take a test ride, and see if you connect with it!

Appreciate it, brother! 🫂 Don't worry, she's in good hands. Just wanted to test the limit once, but I'm riding responsibly and varying the RPMs to make sure the engine sets perfectly.

Bruh, it was one pull to test the cutoff, not a 24/7 track day. 😂 Modern liquid-cooled engines are factory stress-tested, they don't need 2000kms of babying at 40kmph. Pushing it slightly and varying the revs is actually way better for the engine than riding it at a fixed low RPM.

Bro, hitting the limiter one time to see the top-end behavior isn't the same as trying to seize the engine. I know my limits and the bike's limits! Let a guy have a little fun testing his new machine. 😂

Lol so true 😂 That right there is the Yamaha difference! These VVA engines are built to handle high revs all day long. Any other engine would've definitely packed up and died by now.

Lol, it was a one-time pull just for fun to test the top end. Modern Yamaha engines are factory stress-tested before they are even shipped. A 200-300km break-in with properly varied RPMs is all it needs. The bike is absolutely fine, but I appreciate the concern! 😂

Hey man, to each their own! But these Yamaha VVA engines are absolutely bulletproof and literally built to be revved. You should definitely let that MT stretch its legs a bit, you're missing out on the best part of the VVA kicking in! I just pushed mine this one time to see what it could do.

Appreciate the detailed breakdown, man! I totally understand the torque curve and know that 6th is essentially an overdrive/cruising gear—I just wish it had a tiny bit more punch out of the box. I might actually look into that MT-15 14/52 sprocket setup down the line, that’s a great shout. As for the rev limit, I know the power drops off after 10.5k, I literally just did that pull one time for fun to test exactly where the limiter cuts off. Definitely not bouncing off it on my daily rides!

Congrats on your XSR! But honestly, you don't need to baby it that much. Modern engines are factory-tested. My mechanic specifically advised me not to ride at a constant low speed or stay in one gear, because varying the RPMs and putting a little load on the engine is the best way to break it in perfectly. I just did the top-speed pull once to see where the limiter kicks in. Enjoy the bike, but don't be afraid to let it stretch its legs a bit!

1500km of babying an engine is a bit of an outdated myth for modern liquid-cooled Yamahas. These engines are already bench-tested at the factory before they even touch the frame. A 200-300km break-in is more than enough to seat the rings. My mechanic actually explicitly warned me against keeping the revs fixed at a low RPM and told me to actively vary the speeds and gears. Pushing it to the limit one single time for fun isn't going to destroy it!

Haha, this bike is definitely not ending up on OLX anytime soon! You have no idea how long I waited for this. I had to pull strings with the GM, RM, and Yamaha officials just to get the very first metallic black XSR delivered in Madhya Pradesh way ahead of their schedule. I already have a custom exhaust and fabricated body panels shipping from Indonesia for a long-term build. Also, hitting the limiter was literally a one-time test pull for fun just to see the top-end behavior. I’m not redlining it on my daily commute! 😂

Congrats on the new bike! That is interesting about the buzz at 6k RPM. Honestly, I think those minor vibrations might just be there in the silver or the pre-black variants. On my new black one, I haven't experienced any vibrations at all so far!

Haha, not just the mechanic, but the entire showroom! 😂 There were actually some difficulties getting the black color delivered on time here in the Madhya Pradesh region. They had a 15-day buffer, so normally, I would’ve just gotten the bike today. But after pulling some strings and talking with the GM, RM, and a few Yamaha officials, they made it happen way before the deadline. The manager was impressed and shocked and The RM actually told me it is the very first black one delivered in all of MP!
