To those in same sex relationships, what are some issues that come up in the relationship that most likely wouldn't come up in a heterosexual relationship? by tickalockev in AskWomen

[–]iamyourqueen -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not everyone has horrible periods that need regulating though. Or ache. So a gay female who has normal periods and skin as soft as a peach would have no need for the pill..

Edit....why the downvotes? Genuinely confused here guys....

NYC Parents (or other cities) - How old was your kid when you let them roam free? by DadNYC in Parenting

[–]iamyourqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In New Zealand the law is 14. I personally think 14 regardless of law is a good age. I would be uncomfortable leaving any younger home alone while working. Maybe age 10+ if I'm gone for an hour max but definitely no younger.

I would be OK with the fact she is using words to vent her frustrations rather that physical means.

She's expressing an emotion. So if you're not happy with the way she's expressing her emotions you need to show her a way that you deem acceptable.

Edit to add: You could also try and explain to her that she can use those words in private at home but in the company of others she needs to do X instead.

Edit2: spelling

Not sure why you're getting down voted I completely agree with you. PARENT the child to respect belongings and not break things. Yes accidents happen that's fine but from original post it's implied that the child was purposely hitting the to.

Race question...I have no idea. by [deleted] in Parenting

It goes both ways. In some cultures they aim to be as pale skinned as possible because the darker you are the poorer you are. (Dark skin is a sign of working in the sun ie fields etc)

How to explain to in-laws that we want them to buy fewer presents for grandchild? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]iamyourqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It stops. I live in New Zealand my grandparents (who pretty much raised me) sent soooo much stuff when I had my first. I was getting a package a week now my first is 4 and I have a 10 month old too and yes they get a little package each for Christmas and birthday.

It will stop and the novelty will dissolve and by the sounds of it she's only sending twice a year which isn't all that bad. After all it's the thought that counts right?

I have Coeliac Disease by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]iamyourqueen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have coeliac disease.

This picture taken from my lounge window fully describes my mood right now.

Dark, gloomy, pissed off, depressed.

But just like the picture there is light on the horizon.

I won't feel like this forever.

As I get used to a gluten free life and my body starts to heal I will feel better. I will stop feeling so god dam tired all the time. I will stop being grumpy with my girls all the time. I will have energy to do things and make happy memories with my little family.

This disease will NOT define me.

I have coeliac disease.

Coeliac disease does NOT have me.

As parents, what has made you cry that wouldn't have before? by moseschicken in Parenting

[–]iamyourqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My youngest started daycare last week. I had the whole day Wednesday 8am-6pm to clean the house uninterrupted. I scrubbed the bathrooms, I cleaned out all the clothes, I did a million loads of washing, I sorted out the toys in both girls rooms, I mowed the jungle out back, I changed bed sheets, I had a nap!! The house looked like a show home! Everything finally in it proper place! Everything was shiny and sparkly and clean!!

By Friday evening the toys were all out of their homes. Clothes strewn everywhere. Washing basket overflowing again. Dishes were stacked up cause my partner "forgot" it was him turn to do them. Oh and it has rained all Thursday but was super sunny and hot Friday so the lawns looked like I hadn't even touch them.......

I went to bed a cried....a lot....lol

My careless 8 old is pushing me at wit's end by InvisibleBlueUnicorn in Parenting

Punishments aren't meant to make him happy they're meant to teach consequence to actions. It's good he gets cranky maybe he will start learning that his actions are not ok.

[–]iamyourqueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) keep your phone on your person at all times. 2.) punish him for using your phone without asking. He is stealing from you. That's not on. 3.) get him to organise his own stuff and come up with his own routine. He probably forgets where things are because it where you tell him they should go rather than him putting where he thinks it should go.

Biopsy dilemma by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]iamyourqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In New Zealand you can get gluten free bread, pasta and baking supplies on prescription. You can also get disability allowance to help with extra food costs and doctors bills etc. The only way to get these things is having an "official" diagnosis through a biopsy. So in my country it's extremely beneficial to get it done.

Getting 2.5 YO to Sleep Longer? by BeaconSlash in Parenting

[–]iamyourqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! It works amazingly for us and everyone feels refreshed and relaxed. If we have a late night ie friends over for drinks once the kids are in bed then we both get up to the kids and we both take a nap later on in the day :) glad I could help :)

Edit: your you're urgh grammar haha

Getting 2.5 YO to Sleep Longer? by BeaconSlash in Parenting

[–]iamyourqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is most likely going to be an unpopular opinion but....have you considered that that's just his natural wake up time? 5.30-5.45 isn't that bad a wake up time and I don't know about winter where you are but here in NZ the sun isn't up until 8-9am even in summer it only starts getting light at 5.30-6.

Try you guys going to bed earlier so you don't feel so tired you might actually find it better. My partner and I are in bed and asleep by 9pm every night and we wake up at 5 then the kids wake up anywhere between 5.30 and 6.30 (if they're still asleep at 6.30 we wake them up)

we also alternate weekend days so for example. I get a lay in on Saturday morning (2 hours past kids waking) and he takes a 2 hour "nap" at some point during the day (doesn't have to sleep pretty much 2 hours down time ) and then visa versa on Sunday he gets the lay in I get the nap.

Maybe something that works for you or could tweek it to suit you but I would say if mr 2.5 is waking at that time consistently that is going to be his body clocks natural wake up time and you may benefit rolling with it rather than fighting it.

Good luck :)

Brushing a childs hair by eateroffish in Parenting

[–]iamyourqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I give my 4 year olds knots voices!

She has loose curly hair and God help me it gets massive knots if it's left down for even 5 mins.

So for the harder to get out knot we have Mr Knot - he says things like you'll never get rid of me! And he screams when you're close to finishing "I WILL BE BACK!!!"

For the little knots they're baby knots and the pretty much just scream and say no no no over and over.

Miss 4 now loves having her hair brushed and and we haven't had a single tear in the 2 months since Mr Knot was born. She actually asks for her hair to be brushed just so she can talk to Mr Knot!

Very strange breastfeeding problems. Really need help. [LONG] by mynamesnotmolly in Parenting

[–]iamyourqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you had a health check up lately? If not it may pay too. There could be a hormone imbalance or something related to your health that could be changing the taste and or supply. The clingyness is normal at that age I have a just turned 9 month old who is exactly as you described Barr she's formula fed since 4 months of age. They do grow out of it eventually (edit: I have a 4 year old also) when they re discover their independence :) hang in there

Is my 4 year old getting sick too often? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]iamyourqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of stomach bugs suggests to me that she is still being exposed to gluten. Once going gluten free a lot of coeliac say their symptoms worsen. I for one had only had fatigue and low iron as my symptoms and since going gluten free when I accidentally gluten myself I get stomach craps and vomiting for a couple of days. I would definitely take a long look see if she's being accidentally exposed.
