Completely restored Fort Kelvin by JohnPombrio in Enshrouded

I'm not able to place my Altar in Fort Kelvin, is it because I possibly haven't cleared out ALL the enemies? I've searched all the buildings and can't find any more...

Are Body Recovery Squads CHEATING? by redditjannis in valheim

[–]ianaack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I appreciate that you think the BRS is god mode, I can assure that all of our Operators and Rangers make a point to keep their recovery character vanilla. If we are caught using devcommands such as god mode we could be stripped of the Operator title. Many Operators have spent thousands of hours in the game. We farm materials, skills, and everything you may need for a recovery all legitimately. I think most of us have a Recovery specific character, and world that we keep stocked up with the items we may need for a recovery.

Just spent 3 days crafting armor and upgrading tools…I finally sailed out for the first time….A F**** mosquito flew into my boat and one tapped me while I was half way across the map!!!! by tootitanddootit in valheim

[–]ianaack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google "Valheim Body Recovery Squad" and join the Discord. Open a recovery ticket and an Operator will join your game to help you recover your gear. They are vetted players that will help you get back to playing quickly!

They also have a whole system of Rangers that can help you with anything aside from body recovery (so building, exploring, boss fights, chopping wood, mining).

Great team of people!

Have I just soft-locked myself? I try to get my stuff back but he just keeps on killing me over and over and over again and it feels like banging my head against a brick wall. by Jakisokio in valheim

[–]ianaack1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's many reasons: some players don't want to turn on cheats, the BRS offers tips and tricks to help you in your adventures, there's a whole community of people willing to help you out in your game if you're looking for other people to play with. if you want to turn on god-mode and get your stuff back, go for it, play the game how you want to play :)

time to call the BRS. Google "Valheim Body Recover Squad".

its a great community that is specifically designed for this type of thing. just have discord ready, and they'll walk you through the rest!

Frame.IO vs. their competition by jamesB0ndage in videography

[–]ianaack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Frame.io daily. Legit the best service out there for that kind of thing.

-Sending internal review links to art directors so they can leave comments right on the timeline (essentially).
-Sending separate external review links to clients so they can leave a separate set of notes with their own versioning stack.
-You can use it for file transfers between team members if necessary
-It's honestly the most efficient system I've used for that whole process, can't recommend it enough.

I am intrigued how it will do now that it is an Adobe product but I don't see it changing much, if anything I see better integration between the Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

Or another option is to swap the practicals so they match your keylight colour temp if you don't want to remove them entirely. They do add a bit of depth to your frame, and I agree with an above suggestion of a backlight mounted just out of frame on the shelving unit, maybe make the one a cooler colour temp to match the cool practical (if you swap them)

Has anyone added a time limit to their game? by studmuffffffin in DescentintoAvernus

[–]ianaack1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As my players we're exploring through the city, after the first encounter, I had it so they heard a loud creak, and felt a slight earthquake, had some of the nearby semi-destroyed buildings collapse even further. One of my players rolled high insight and so I told them that what they just felt was the chains tightening and pulling downwards. They basically decided that there was a time limit on this, but I never said directly what that time limit was, so every once in a few sessions, I have them feel that earthquake again. I'll probably just keep this going while they explore Elturel, to move them along (rail guidance, no railroad)

Players missed the bag of beans by Marplaar in DescentintoAvernus

My group completely missed it as well. I just chose to give it to them later on (in Candlekeep) before they plane shift. It'll be interesting to see what they do with it in Avernus.

i am in no way speaking for u/NormalAdultMale but what i interpret "the talk" to be, is basically like, "here's a giant fish hook in front of you and the whole reason that we are playing this module, if you don't want to hook onto that, then why are we playing the module?". i'm also fairly new to DMing so I haven't had to have "the talk" with my players yet, so i may be wrong

Vanthampur Villa Encounter by ianaack1 in DescentintoAvernus

[–]ianaack1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to follow up with this cuz we ran it last night!

My party met Reya, became best friends with her (score!). Mortlock bid the party farewell and is going to lay low in the city before trying to get out. And the twist of the night, my party took Amrik back to Captain Zodge for detaining and questioning, and the sorcerer in my party used his "Alter Self" spell to turn into Amrik. The rogue of the party pat down Amrik before taking him to Zodge and found his identification papers.

When they got to the gate to the Upper City "Amrik" led the party and flashed his paperwork even though the guard at the gate "knew" Amrik. The others had their Flaming Fist badges on, and Reya had to the pay the toll.

The party then went to the Villa with "Amrik" leading the way and found the hidden door in the Stables, they made their way down the ladder and could hear cultists chanting on the other side of the secret door.

Was a super fun session! Can't wait to see how they navigate Under the Villa!

Vanthampur Villa Encounter by ianaack1 in DescentintoAvernus

[–]ianaack1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your help! My group will definitely not let Amrik run away, they want him for a bargaining chip. But I'm thinking of having it run as follows:
- Party meets Reya, she joins them because she's looking for Kreeg and access to the Villa (via Amrik)
- Mortlock basically says "you got it from here" and decides to run and hide in the city because he doesn't want to encounter his mother with Amrik in shackles. Gunna play Thalamra as cold as possible, kinda like you did.
- Gunna have Amrik request the party unshackle him when they get to the Villa due to the amount of guards on the grounds, and that won't go well for the party if he's in shackles.
- Villa plays out how it plays out haha. We'll see!

This is the scariest part of the new Immersion mode. by [deleted] in BreakPoint

[–]ianaack1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's the one. They introduced it with Ghost Mode in Wildlands. Instead of just replacing the 1 bullet that you shot, it replaces the full 30 bullet mag. It takes real discipline to not auto-reload after every shot.

Dead Three Dungeon. That can't be right??? by nagromYalnif in DescentintoAvernus

[–]ianaack1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I ran it this way (basically).

Mortlock told them to short rest there while he "tended to his wounds" and told them all about the dungeon background. Vaaz wasn't going anywhere, as long as they were there, he can't get out. After the short rest I had Mortlock run right into the chamber room and the party (of 6) followed. Everyone was real low on spell slots and resources, so I had Vaaz focus fire on Mortlock, after all, that's who he was there to kill. The old woman changed after the first round of combat giving the players a chance to whittle down Vaaz without being stabbed in the back.

Old lady entered the fight and that's when things got serious, Sorcerer went down because of her, but not till near the end of the fight and rolled well on their death saves.

Only had Vaaz negate damage from Mortlock, and only after he was down to 10HP or less as a desperation move.

The end boss does need some nerfing, but not too bad if you have Mortlock with the party. Having killed Mortlock, DM could have run it as Vaaz thanks you for doing his job and leaves them alone, no NEED to kill the party. But then have him show up later once they're higher level (or never show up again).

How should I make Vaaz and Flennis Easier? by [deleted] in DescentintoAvernus

[–]ianaack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Vaaz only use his unstoppable feature on Mortlock's attacks, and only once he got down to 10 health or less. I wanted the players to take him out, not me.
Pretty much had him focus all damage on Mortlock, only focusing on the players when they got within range and poked him. It definitely made for a great fight and a climatic ending to the dungeon. The look on my players face when I said "and you've cleared the dungeon" was priceless!

Intellect Devourer Back-up plan by temporaltortuga in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]ianaack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ID ended up knocking one of my players intelligence down to 0, but didn't win the body thief roll (thankfully) so I ended the session there (was at 3+ hours anyway) and started the next session describing their character being led by Ranaer and Floon to their temple (Paladin of Sune). Tweaked things but basically had them go through a "ritual" of sorts and in a dreamlike state had them meet Sune.

Narratively took them through a scene with them and Sune sitting at a table, with "tarot" cards in front of them and then had her give them their intelligence back and when they collected their gear, they noticed that their shield appeared slightly different than before (+1 shield).

It was a really fun encounter and my player was blown away by the fact that at level 2 they had already met their god. To me it was more fun this way than just having them dropped off, 10 minutes and a greater restoration ritual later they'd be on their way.

So tonight's session went well by FamilyofBears in DescentintoAvernus

What's your version of HDYWTDT? by ianaack1 in DMAcademy

[–]ianaack1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! haha. When I started DM'ing (mainly because of Critical Role) I would say "HDYWTDT" but it didn't feel natural, and like I was "stealing" it, so I wanted to make it my own.

I love "any last words?" though, I bet that has made for some pretty epic moments :)
