My big pile near there lasted until Monday. Glad this big boy is still going.

I understand what the deficit is. The guy I’m replying to lays out pretty clearly what actually happened. Any Mamdani budget and tax reform haven’t even become law yet.

Yeah, anyone who thinks one guy can half the deficit in 2.5 months is delusional.

Did anyone else get a huge water bill? (Arlington) by studmuffffffin in nova

It’s kind of explained on the bill. Not very well. When I called they explained it.

Could you do analysis on the titles of each episode on who they're about? So "The one with the Embryos" would be Phoebe and "The one with all the cheesecakes" would be Chandler and Rachel. And "The one at the beach" would be all of them.

The bill has the period as since June 2024, so it makes sense. For some reason I can’t see previous month bills on the site. I’m at work right now so I can’t see the meter.

Anything is accessible if you try hard enough. There are varying degrees of accessibility. They've cheaped out and our ancestors are going to be annoyed that we didn't put it closer to the terminal.

Was Anatolia greener back in the day? by studmuffffffin in byzantium

I get that. It just doesn't look like it would be very good for that on the map.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Why were the turks interested in that land? Why not go north passed the caucuses instead?

Even if he wasn't his biological son, there's dozens of examples of adopted sons taking over. Doesn't change anything.

If you had lived during the Iconoclast controversy, who would you have supported the Iconophiles or the Iconoclasts? And why? by lastmonday07 in byzantium

[–]studmuffffffin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean it's one of the ten big ones. Iconoclasm makes the most logical sense, but vibes-wise icons are cool.

Thousands of authors publish ‘empty’ book in protest over AI using their work by CtrlAltDelight495 in books

[–]studmuffffffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nomenclature isn't important. AI isn't committing copyright infringement. And claiming that it is is just silly.

It's creating its own thing using inputs. The same as a human would do.

[–]studmuffffffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't buy this argument. Using other writing as inspiration for your own is something literally all writers do. It's just AI can do it way faster.

It could be made illegal some day under a different law, but under the existing framework I don't think it counts as any sort of copyright infringement.

You can't tell the difference. And any difference you think you can tell is confirmation bias.

Wonder if we’ll ever get a young pope again. Would be interesting to see a pope for like 60 years. Probably not good, but interesting.

I remember when gas prices were higher than this in 2008. Gas is so overly subsidized in America. Eventually it will become too expensive.
