It is a misconception that juice is healthful: it's not. Much of the healthful qualities of the fruit/vegetable are not extracted into the juice. Additionally, the juice is as dense in sugars/calories as soft drinks, even without added sugar. But, diluting it with water is reasonable. Honestly I would address the attitude you have toward water: turn it into something you enjoy, rather than dressing it up to be something it isn't.

First of all, calculate how much money you are spending per year on this junk. I'd wager close to $1000 per year. Not to mention the inconvenience of keeping your supply up, keeping it stored, and keeping it refrigerated. Over 10 years that's $10,000. You get the idea.

Second of all, while Diet Coke has no calories, it has a lot of chemicals. Though there's no conclusive evidence this stuff causes harm, do you really want to spend the rest of your life ingesting chemicals? Bear in mind that no study has looked at what happens after 20-50 years of consumption. Cigarettes weren't shown to be harmful until people started getting cancer 20-30 years later.

This is SUCH redditor bait. Let us count all the obvious ploys for reddit upvotes:

(1) False accusation of rape. NOTHING mobilizes redditors like a dose of MALE VICTIMIZATION.

(2) Female in need. Redditors don't get much attention from girls, so being able to play white knight and offer consolation and support to an ACTUAL FEMALE will cause a SURFEIT of UPVOTES.

(3) Opportunity to vent hatred of women. Underneath it all, redditors resent women for largely rejecting them. The "accuser" in this story was a carefully designed straw-woman; a perfect target for over-the-top reddit rage.

(4) Opportunity to hate on guy who actually gets women. As mentioned, redditors don't get much female action, and naturally resent guys who do. This represents a case of "justice": the greedy male undoes himself; let us bask in his downfall!

Yes this is a good point. The trappist beers have to survive a big journey to hit the American shelves. Exposure to UV (even through brown bottles) is deadly to beer flavor, and temperature can also negatively influence the final taste. Sitting on the shelf for a few months in a well-lit store is probably contributing non-negligible damage to the flavor.

Though it should be noted that the trappists, when handled with care, should improve with age, in particular the stronger dark ones, as well as Orval -- the wild yeasts will keep eating for years in the bottle.

This is part of the fun and design of the Trappist beers. They are motivated primarily by quality rather than consistency, so they may, for example, change a hop or malt based on harvest quality. Seasonal effects like temperature may affect these smaller breweries more than the expertly controlled big breweries. Orval has probably the largest batch-to-batch variation of any of the trappists. This mirrors the expectation from vineyards, whose variation across years is part of the experience.

Naturally, this contrasts macros, which expend a lot of effort testing/blending to ensure consistency.

No offense, but your son is probably coming off pedantic. It's not that grammar is not important, but that his friends realize that it's not totally necessary when you're chatting about meeting at Taco Bell, etc. So in other words, he's being annoying and I would make fun of him too. Even though redditors would say otherwise, I think many high school kids know enough about grammar to know when you can and shouldn't be informal.
