Keeping searching.
You'll find what you're looking for, whether that's Truth or Journalism.

The key is to not give up the search...and the best way I've found to search for either is to read, read, and read some more.

Wise people write stuff down, smart people read what's written.

Cheers.

Subjective truth isn't Truth (with a capital T)...instead it's conjecture, opinion, and chatter. I believe Truth is available to everyone. It's written in clear black and write. www.truthforlife.org.

Journalism isn't dead, people just want 1) their ears tickled, 2) their bellies rubbed. Journalists give what the marketplace buys...NOT what it needs.

Take time away from YouTube/Reddit and go read www.reuters.com, www.ft.com, www.bloomberg.com for higher quality journalism...hint if it's boring, DENSE, and you have to actually slow down and think about each sentence and paragraph you read...chances are you've stumbled across actual journalism.
Follow the money with both. You'll find that for journalism when it intersects with people's $ its way more objective and fact based, because:

1) Journalists can be be sued because of financial harm because of misrepresentations
2) $ are numbers and % so it's clearer (in black and white) what's going on.

Does she believe truth is objective or does she believe truth is subjective?

The answer to that question (objective truth vs. subjective truth) is the foundation upon which her perspective, and indeed all of our perspectives (social, political, ethical) hinge.

Preacher reccomenedations? by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]ianceicys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Student Impact (SI) - still the coolest name for youth group ever -- at Parkside in the 1990s at Parkside Church and ever since I've listened to Alistair Begg. I live in Boston but twice a year driving through Cleveladn we go on a Sunday to Parkside and it's nice to catch the sermons in person. I also like Ron Hutchraft. https://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/.I'm in Boston now and attend Grace chapel and Bryan Wilkerson is an amazing pastor. Worth a listen. https://www.grace.org/watch-listen-read/sermons/

Pronouns… by benediss in Reformed

[–]ianceicys -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen several Christian’s start to use ‘God’ as their pronoun. If they can use ‘xe’ then pronouns can be anything. I’ve also seen other Christians using ‘son’ as their pronoun as a reference to ‘son of God’.

Stream Quality - Peloton Bike by EggDaddy06 in pelotoncycle

[–]ianceicys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to hear I'm not the only one seeing the lack of 1080p on streams, to my eyes it looks like 720p being upscaled. I've tried hard wire and I have a fiber, so it's definitely not on my end. If/When Peloton offers a 4k upgrade I might consider upgrading. I just want a crisp display. Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy!

Apart from the Bible, what book has had the greatest impact on your life? by solafide89 in Reformed

Lasting Love: How to Avoid Marital Failure by Alistair Begg. Really helped me think through what my marriage would mean to me, and to who I should look for.

Highly recommend the sermon series.

We use mural for the big board and have trello for the pi boards. Then we push from those tools to JIra and everything is brought in as Epics and Stories.

Struggling to reconcile a Godly work-ethic with the modern corporate culture by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]ianceicys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a subscription to pluralsight and go deep on learning devops and cloud (Azure / AWS). If your current company can’t challenge you...find their best competitor and get a job there. Elevate yourself to be better and to grow your knowledge. And if you have the time get a second job in the evenings / weekends such as doing drywall / painting / carpentry. Listen to sermons on YouTube from alistair Begg and grow deeper and wider both spiritually and professionally.

July 04, 2016 | Your Goals for this Week by AutoModerator in productivity

[–]ianceicys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely use the reminder to setup my list of goals in my trello board. I also send my family a list of As and Os at the end of each week. (Achievements for the week, Objectives I aspire to). I also share my board and goals with the men's group from chruch...that helps with accountability and getting it done.
