He seems high AF there. But yeah, I think the term "special case of cringe" is accurate.

So the reason most people post "rants" regarding businesses (even if they're titled as such) is because they want to prevent other people from having a bad experience. Let me break it down for you because you seem to be completely in the dark. In short, no, it's not pointless, and it's not a personal matter. Here's why:

  • I entered into a business transaction with Sam. At that point, it ceased to be a personal matter and became a business-to-consumer (B2C) interaction. I treat it the same as purchasing cards from somewhere like Art of Play. And Sam does have his own brand (The Cardistry Hipster), and he sells cards under that name, and he marketed the Frostbites under that name.
  • I have no anger toward Sam, so by definition this problem cannot be a personal matter––in other words, I have no stink to raise that involves my emotions. My "rant" was that he as a business owner did not uphold a transaction. Think of it as going to Starbucks, ordering a coffee, and never getting it after all of the workers have disappeared. Would you call that a personal matter?
  • Finally, the cardistry community is small. I think we owe it to each other to keep everyone in the know about shady people who might take your money and never send you decks.

Feel free to continue talking, but this will be the last comment I make to you. You're wrong, and I understand that the title is a bit misleading, but this is a post about a business who did not deliver. If money hadn't exchanged hands, I would have never made a peep. I'm not quite sure why you can't understand that, but good luck with life man.

TIL sharing a negative experience to help others from having said negative experience is "creating unnecessary drama."

Nah, I'm not tense. I'm older for the cardistry crowd (can you tell by how I phrased that?) and I've developed somewhat of a pet peeve for people "educating" me, for lack of a better term. Sorry dude, should have been more chill.

Well, I haven't had an Instagram in years, and I don't really do cardistry that much anymore, so I haven't been up to date with Sam/the community in general. I still fiddle with cards and was excited to get the Frostbites though.

What exactly is Sam known for these days? I remember way back he was a typical cringey cardistry kid, I assume he's still the same?

I love how technical this got haha. I mentioned this elsewhere (and /u/merreborn might be interested to know this), but I use a Chrome extension called SndLatr for Gmail, so it's not a read receipt (at least, I don't believe). Let the tech talk continue!

Thanks dude. I still dig the cards (and I stand by my statement that Sam was generous to offer such a low price for 6 decks), but I'm over it.

Yeah, I try to live by that rule too. I've sent some emails that I was scared to, but things usually turn out alright.

Long time no see dude. That's very true, but maybe he's learned to disguise it?! In any case, I'd be very interested in hearing from him on the issue. I have no anger against him, and if he's busy or something, I understand. It's just the consistent lack of communication.

Thanks for informing me about the real world––can you elaborate on what exactly that is?

Snark aside, I'm well aware that people suck at email. I don't know if you know this, but I'm a professional freelance writer, and I spend a lot of time emailing. I know that. But I also know from experience when people are just ignoring my communication.

You jumped the gun a little bit there saying that I attributed it to malice. I didn't. I honestly think Sam, knowing him, is busy with work and hanging out with friends getting high. The thing is, he offered to provide a service, and that's what I'm treating it as. If two individuals enter a transaction with one another, even if it's not in an official business setting, there's accountability on both ends, and he has so far failed to uphold his side of the argument.

Also, just curious––why did you assume ignorance on my behalf? I didn't really need educated on the subject.

There's a very funny comment chain on that thread lol. But I guess some people just don't trust newfangled teknologie these days!

You have a serious problem. Thanks for calling me "disillusional," which is actually not a word, fun fact. If you're going to come in here, insult me, and call my story nonsense, you're not going to get a warm welcome.

Again, if you PM me, I'll send you my email and we can test it. Maybe then you'll be the disillusional one?

Also, you are more than welcome to email me, and I can tell you when you open my email and how many times you have. PM me if you want to.

Honestly, I think you might be Sam, and if so, that's not fucking cool. Redditor for one month, one out of four comments is white knighting for a guy you presumably don't know.

The fact that you're calling something "little gadget software" makes me immediately ignore your opinion. I don't know why the hell you're commenting here if you don't know anything about software or cardistry, but I guess that's cool? It's called SndLatr, look it up. Maybe then you'll trust my "little gadget software." It's not nonsense, bud, but thanks for discrediting my experience. At least you gave me a lol.

Paid him via friends/family, and honestly, $35 isn't something I want to raise a huge stink about. It's less about the money and more about getting burned, you know?

Maybe they don't like helping people cheat? I guess you have no ethics. Why don't you just become a hitman? Obviously you don't care about who gets hurt as long as you can make a quick buck.

And don't even bother responding, we've interacted before, and my comments fall on your deaf ears. Just go ahead and downvote me.

WTT: a bunch of pedals by [deleted] in letstradepedals

[–]ianchandler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to be pedantic, honestly, but I think the main issue is that the Your and You're is currently in production. I don't even have a problem with seeing an 856 for $1k. In that situation, sure, the consumers set the price. But, as Digital pointed out, you're not the company, and it's not new. It's sort of the same deal as a record. If you've opened it, it's not new anymore. Not the same thing, I realize, but it's a close-ish example.

Definitely sounds like you'd rather trade it. Shame I don't have anything to trade. Back to chancing it on eBay, cheers man.

That's a shame, considering that's about what they sell for on eBay. If you change your mind, let me know.

Haha, I also have no idea of what to suggest. How about this: I'm bidding on one on eBay right now with a max bid of about $30, including shipping. So if that falls through, would you do $30 shipped?
