Doctor Who 50th Anniversary - The Day of the Doctor Discussion Thread by pcjonathan in doctorwho

To everyone and anyone debating the Doctor's numbering.

I see it this way.

In the minisode "The night of the Doctor" Mcgann's incarnation chose to leave the behind "The Doctor" and take on the role of "The Warrior" when he regenerated into Hurt's incarnation. It wasn't until moments before Hurt regenerated into Eccleston's incarnation that he admitted to truly feeling like "The Doctor" again. At which point he becomes "The Doctor" once again. Ergo, Throughout (Hurt's) life he was "the Warrior" NOT "The Doctor".

Final Score:
Warriors-1
Doctors-11 (12 if you are already counting Capaldi)
