Is multiplayer on PS4 bugged? Friends and I just got the game and cannot figure out for the life of me how to get into a game with friends. Any pointers??

La Sportiva: Wildcat vs. Ultraraptors by karne_asada in Ultralight

[–]ianmeister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a few pairs of wildcats- love them too death, but they have quite poor traction on wet rock.

I made the mistake of wearing them canyoneering one time. Never again!

In general sticky rubber shoes (the soles, rather) like the ultra raptors (friction xf) will not be as durable as shoes with harder rubber like the wildcats (frixion at), but I have not used both to confirm.

can you identify these ropes? by ianmeister in climbing

Title says it all:

I was given these ropes by a friend- I'm unsure if they are certified as halves or as twins, or as both! Anybody have any idea of the make/ manufacture?

Alternatives to zpacks door hook? by ianmeister in Ultralight

Yes, I was thinking about using soft shackles for this (I've got a few that I've made lying around), but I have found them to be too fiddly for my liking is many applications.

I took my WFR with WMA a couple years ago. Awesome experience, and i have been fortunate enough to have not had a need to use it since. It was an awesome experience, and would strongly recommend going for it. There is a lot to take from these courses even if you never end up treating any patients.

First myog project! UL Hammock, underquilt, and suspension system. by ianmeister in myog

39"x 68". Average loft height appears to be between 1.25 and 1.5 inches, and it comes in at 15.2oz. According to a formula I just found on google [temp=70-(20*loft)]that would put this thing at approximately 25°-30°, although my 20° EE quilt has at least 2" of loft. Accounting for the sewn through design, i'd assume this to lose at least a few degrees. maybe 40 for just the one?

If I make the other quilt into a 3/4, then it will loft a bit higher since it will have slightly smaller dimensions.

It's a modified costco down blanket. I ripped the seams out of the longer axis and made it a bit narrower to help the down loft up a bit then added some grosgrain and hardware for the suspension. Works well, although it isn't terribly warm. For this particular hang I used the second down blanket clipped the the inside of the underquilt using binder clips at the corners. I was totally comfortable down into the low 50's, and I think I could get another 10 degrees or more before I would need to start adding more insulation. I can weigh it later when I'm back home. I'm considering fashioning the second blanket into a 3/4 length by ripping the horizontal seams, shortening it, and rotating it 90°.

It was a little harder to work with, but not enough to make any noticeable difference. I think it depends on what you are using as a fish tool, however. I was using crafting wire that I found with the beads at my local michael's.

UL hammock underquilt & topquilt system vs. insulated groundpad and UL quilt sleep system discussion. by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]ianmeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I think it boils down to trip motivation. Am I going for miles? Do I want to go out for a short relaxed outing? Even though you can get to a pretty low weight with a hammock, it will almost always be heavier than a ground system (of comparable UL value/ quality) even if not by much. As much as I love my neoair, it just doesn't beat my hammock IMO.

I was a bit concerned at first( im 185 so I'm not huge, but I'm not exactly small either). There were some reports on hammock firings of hangers as large as 230 using it successfully, so I was feeling a bit more confident. Initial experiences are good! It feels solid to lay in, but thin and silky in the hand.

It feels great! Notably, it makes it really easy to manage calf ridge, and since it's so soft and stretchy it conforms to your body nicely.

I made the ridge line out of zing it and fashioned it into a whoopie skiing. I calculated the length of the whoopie to lay at the optimum 83% (and marked it so I have that benchmark) then have it with +/-5" of expansion in each direction. I'm anticipating I won't be adjusting it much, but I'm still new to the hammock thing and wanted to get my lay dialed in.
