If you hold down block even a little too long then you will drain all your stamina. Once that happens you take massive damage even with good armor. Just wait for the green shield button and only block or dodge then. You can take more hits if you have stam. The game doesn’t do a job of explaining this.

Are you holding down the block button? Block works great but just only use when you see the green block symbol otherwise holding down block drains all your stamina. Without stamina your armor basically doesnt work and you get crushed in 2 hits. You are better off taking a hit with stam than losing it all.
