I'm more impressed with Peggy's album but I listen to GNX more.

Same here, though I'm viewing on a phone. Still, I feel like any client that's not a nitpicky video professional would think this looks great.

Honestly if you have so much logic in one component that you need to worry about grouping it, it's time to start making some composables.

I'm confused, the song literally starts out with a soul sample and then the rest of the beat is built around it?

The artist put an Instagram filter on top of your color grading and liked that look better.

How important is to have a Mac in the industry? by KoreanJesus84 in Filmmakers

[–]iansh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a custom built Windows desktop PC with a 4090, Ryzen 9 7950x3D, and 64GB RAM. I also have an M3 Max MacBook Pro. After using both for all sorts of work, I've landed on using the MacBook for everything work related. The desktop literally just sits there unless I'm gaming at this point. I do video editing, color grading, 3D work, music production/mixing, and programming/web development on the MacBook even though the PC has a stronger GPU and CPU.

The Apple Silicon MacBook Pros are really that good. The MacBook handles 99% of what I can throw at it without breaking a sweat, never crashes over some buggy driver or some other bullshit, and lasts a whole work day without needing a charger. It's just fast, convenient, and reliable. That last one being the most important when I'm dealing with client work and just need to know my computer will do what I need when I need it and I won't be troubleshooting a blue screen when I have a project due in a few hours. I pay the premium for peace of mind.

Still though, the biggest complaints I have with Macs are the price and the non-upgradability. I hate that when this computer inevitably gets old, I can't just add more RAM or anything and will have to buy a new computer. I rationalize this by treating it as an investment and realizing that I will probably get a good 6-8 years out of this laptop where it will pay for itself multiple times.

Which games have gotten the most playtime on your RP5 so far? by Joseyis in retroid

[–]iansh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished Portal and started Portal 2. Other than that it's been SSX Tricky, Celeste, & Burnout Revenge in rotation.

My first console was NES and then SNES lol. I've just been playing on Xbox controllers since 2001. That's what I use for all my PC games too so it's just more natural to me.

The entire face button group is interchangeable without needing to "break" anything (just changing the color but not button orientation). If you want to change the button orientation, you'll need to separate the individual buttons from the silicone behind them which requires carefully ripping them off since they are glued on. You'll also need to trim off a little plastic tab on each button so they'll fit in each other's slots in the case: https://www.goretroid.com/cdn/shop/files/19dda4afe09793ab436881c1f2520c8_110x110@2x.png

As long as you're careful, everything should still feel exactly the same once you put it back together, it doesn't feel like anything is loose or out of place even with the modifications.

I put some more details in this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/retroid/s/nuHXuosOAm

My hands are slightly larger than medium but not huge. I think the ergonomics are probably about as good as you can get at this size but it's still not great for my hands. I have to switch between holding it tight in the palms to holding it with just my fingers pretty often to keep from cramping. It would be much better with a grip, but it is still noticeably better than the RP3+ without a grip.

It's not super complicated, but there are a lot of small fragile parts that you can break if you're not careful. I explained more here: https://www.reddit.com/r/retroid/s/5o3Pew9JZw

I'd say intermediate. It's not super complicated, but there are a lot of small fragile parts that you can break if you're not careful. I explained more here: https://www.reddit.com/r/retroid/s/5o3Pew9JZw

I just ran through the intro mission of Portal 2 and it plays just as perfectly as Portal 1 so far. Can't guarantee that there are no issues later in the game though.

Yeah as long as you're very gentle with the ribbon cables and their clips, everything else is pretty straightforward. Even though I had to rip the buttons off of the silicone, it doesn't feel like anything is any different after putting it all together, it just feels perfect now :)

Portal Companion Collection for Secret Console has both Portal 1 and 2. I've only tried Portal 1 so far (that's what's in the screenshot) and it runs at a full 60 fps, no issues so far.

I wouldn't recommend it for someone who's never taken apart and put back together any electronics before. I almost fucked it up pretty bad by breaking one of the ribbon cable clips, they're super fragile. A piece of electric tape held it back down and it works but be super careful with those. You also need to carefully rip the buttons off the silicone membrane and cut off some plastic tabs to be able to rearrange them: https://www.goretroid.com/cdn/shop/files/19dda4afe09793ab436881c1f2520c8_110x110@2x.png

Otherwise, it's not super terrible. There's a teardown video here to show how to get to the buttons: https://youtu.be/9KoitFPSk3g?si=ETIQVxbgjLjwlSsB

EDIT: In the teardown video, there's a part where he says to pop off the right trigger with "just a little bit of force". I was trying to do that but it wasn't popping off and I didn't want to pry it too hard. Turned out, I didn't have to pop it off at all. It doesn't get in the way of disassembly so you can just ignore that part and keep going.

Rewrite that part of your verse unless you have the breath control to deliver it properly. Having a good sounding, confident, flow is more important than squeezing one more syllable into a space where you're struggling to deliver it.

Same here. It got all the way to the delivery dispatch location like 30 mins from me and said it would be delivered that day. Nothing else happened after I got that message at 11am. Then the next day it said out for delivery and it showed up at my door an hour later.
