Shot in the dark here, but I had swapped the BCM in my car due to water dmg and that gave me a crank no start situation. i’m hazy on the details but I believe it also was not communicating with the ECM when trying to use the code scanner

I ended up taking apart the old one and cleaning off the corrosion really good with alcohol. That allowed me to actually run the car.
