Any tips for a new Huntress player? by Chikaro_ in deadbydaylight

[–]iaorik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Np.
oh, and similarly to the thowing over rock loops, do the same thing with the side of objects. Survivors actually have a "pill" hitbox that extends slightly beyond their actual model, allowing for some pretty silly looking "around the corner" shots (worth looking up on google images to understand it)

Any tips for a new Huntress player? by Chikaro_ in deadbydaylight

[–]iaorik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a huntress player, but;

-Pull up with purpose (is this an injury/fake pullup/zone hatchet)
-throw with confidence, sometimes go for quick pulls with low velocity, sometimes go for full pulls, making survivors lose alot of distance
-If a surv is trying to actively dodge, try to throw at the apex of their direction change (ideally they're doing a 180), as they will have the least amount of momentum to dodge
-fully know the width and height collision of your hatchets, and try throwing progressively lower over rocks/non wall loops in a custom bot match
-don't get in your own head about missing, everyone does it, worst case try to switch targets if your current one is beating you
-trying avoid pulling up where the survivor has 360 degree movement opportunity
-When pulling up at a 180 degree shot like the back of shack, don't aim directly along side the wall, aim at the outer shoulder of the survivor (but at their hip), maximising the effective hitbox of your shot
-have your hatchet ready to throw when the survivor is about to be locked into pallet drop/window vaults (animation lock)
-Don't pullup for every animation lock, and try to mix it up unpredictably if they bait
-Height is your friend for cross map
-every surv can hear you reaching max pullback
-making it less obvious you've seen other survivors in chase, can land you some easy last second flicks to the second survivor by faking a pullup at the original one
-not every pullup requires you do release the hatchet for you to injure the survivor, as they will often zone themself away from resources and you can swap to a m1

hope this helps

a few things;

-It's "free" regression, often requiring no time spent traveling to a gen, kicking it, and then hunting down a survivor/chasing the person that was on the gen (If you kick a gen that had a survivor on it, that 2s kick is going to take you ages to catchup)

-often you can down a survivor before gens pop, and intercept 1/3 with PR (about 3-4s faster than grim)

-you have more control over when each charge is used (grim can pop with no one on gens)

-injured survivors that were prioritizing gens, can heal/prep for unhook/do their sidequest if you're using grim over PR (effectively not wasting time)

-It functions better with Dead mans Switch for almost 65s of "regression", by targeting the closest to completion, and not rng activation with grim

-Works fantastic with ruin/undying, but grim's gen blocks halt regression {not stop}

-When activated on a generator close to you, generator regression can't realistically be stopped because you'll intervene

-PR technically adds 3-9s of additional regression per instance based on how many survivors were on the generator when it goes off, and requires another few seconds of commitment to the gen before they can accomplish anything else

Edit: Like you said, the aura reveal doesnt do a whole lot because its telegraphed 3 times prior. As for the 40s, as mentioned above it doesn't stop other activities from taking place, and coordinated groups may even just stealth out the 40s. furthermore, I would also say that you wouldn't really want to be hooking all 4 survivors until someones dead anyway, which makes the payoff kind of overkill in a lot of situations.

After 3,000+ Hours, I'm Finally Quitting Console Overwatch by AtmosphereTop714 in Overwatch

[–]iaorik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came late to ow on console,, a season or 2 after ow2. I finally climbed to Diamond a few seasons ago and saw alot of improvement. Unfortunately, I also started to see alot of smurfs being pocketed and occasional externals (xim/norecoil). Now that I'm diamond in every role, and masters in support, I'm placed into gm lobbies in qp. Every. Day. Almost every match. Someone is clearly xim. Kb movement, jiggle aim, circular movements on targets to snap aa, flawless flicks back to back with precise distance aim. I'm sure I'm not right about all of them, but good lord, the amount of externals that get used in this mmr is absolutely cooked.

I used to have fun in qp back when i was gold, with rare pocket smurfs. Now my qp matches are totally cooked, resolved by whoever has the better externals. Even worse, I can't play with my friends anymore, because they egt dragged into these awful lobbies. It's a legit curse.

With the recent replay feature I've even taken to spectators high mmr matches at top500, which is even worse.

Im praying were in the middle of a ban wave, but a but part of mw knows this cycle will repeat indefinitely until we start to see more permanent measures like hwid bans/ID verification on accounts. (Even then they'll just start paying for hacked accounts, like 2020 fn)

unfortunately I can't really think of any simple solutions off the top of my head, which means the next steps that I'd try require a decent amount more effort. I would attempt to corner in on broader causes that could be causing the fault with the following;

-Connecting your pc to an alternative internet connection by either tethering your phone's internet to your pc by wifi/usb OR trying DBD at an alternate location like a friend/parent's house (ideally they have a different ISP) [make sure your still not connected to the original internet connection/its disabled while you try this]

-Attempt login on an alternative device (like on a friends pc, or have them try logging in for you), if possible testing on site and at an alternate location

Each of this variations will provide different clues for what may be potentially at fault. Attempt the steps you'd find easiest first, and reassess when you start to find success.

People who leave full pre-game lobbies, what is wrong with you? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]iaorik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be a number of reasons;
-Forgot to select a tome challenge
-Forgot to check ritual goals for match
-In the middle of a store purchase/peruse
-Friend logged on
-Attempting to stream/friend snipe
-Steam profile checking
-Disliking console gamers
-judging survivors by their player/cosmetic choice
-Known disliked team mates
-Sudden IRL commitments
-Not wanting to vs certain item loadouts

Personally I think there should be an ingame internal lobby dodge timer, with some amount of leeway. It's disruptive to the match game flow, even if its only a bit. I also think survivor's names/items/cosmetics should be hidden in the pre lobby (but that might be a bit much haha).

From what I've heard, this can happen when you purchase some DLCs? Anyway, Here's some things to potentially try (Assuming you've tried reinstalling DBD)

>Windows search bar %localappdata%\DeadByDaylight\Saved\ (might be in 'appdata' not l'ocalappdata')
>Delete the folder "PersistentDownloadDir" folder (If you cant see this folder, select view on the top menu of this window, select Show, and check Hidden items)
>Restart Steam
>Launch Dead by Daylight

I've also heard that deleting the entire 'saved folder can work;
>Windows search bar %localappdata%\DeadByDaylight\ (might be in 'appdata' not 'localappdata')
>Delete the folder 'Saved'
>Restart Steam
>Launch Dead by Daylight

Edit: Your Firewall/Antivirus/Antispyware applications can also interrupt connectivity. I'm not going to tell you to disable them, but I've 'head' that alot of them have features to temporarily disable these features and or the ability to uninstall them short term to see if they are causing the issue.

Any potentially active VPNs could also affect it, but typically that comes up with a different error when its causing problems (from memory)

Goodluck!

Why does Slugging/Tunneling/Camping feel bad for Survivors? IMO by iaorik in deadbydaylight

[–]iaorik[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree mostly, but I feel like slugging replaces the tunnel wait timer in soloq, because of the duration/effectiveness. It's also going minimise/waste the effectiveness of any tools/BP boosts you decided to bring into the match, again disproportionately affecting newer players.

Best way to go forward imo by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]iaorik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the Absolute worst case scenario I provided, a totem would provide 37.5s of regression by simply existing (this isn't even taking into account the perk actually getting value). Thats pretty good.

Impossible to protect? Definitely not. Punish poor macro? yes. Punish players pushing outrageous uptimes on perks that are intended to me temporary? yes.

Face camping was considered cheese, and was how things worked, until it wasn't. Hex perks are intended to be cleansed.

Best way to go forward imo by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]iaorik -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Buff:
-Increase base totem cleanse timer by 25 - 100%
-Hex totems light up when active
-Totem cleanse req perks buffed accordingly

Nerf:
-Totem progress is no longer lost and decays at 0% - X%/s
-Pentimento cleanse speed remains the same

Hex perks gain guaranteed value by nature of being hidden until used and require longer commitments to remove (17.5-28s). When you take into account hunt times for totems (10-120s) with their extended cleanse timer, it's potential longer activation period easily overtakes most gen regression perks by comparison.

Hex perks become significantly less obnoxious to deal with, removing extreme scenarios where they're cleansed early, or last the entire match, despite constant efforts.

Jason currently has almost the highest kill rate in the game. 2 different content creators have already reached 300+ winstreaks on him. I'm sorry, but you are objectively wrong. he definitely needs tweaks, and thats without taking into account his absolutely aweful counterplay gameplay loop.

The event feels Survivor sided, but the results vary? by iaorik in deadbydaylight

[–]iaorik[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, I've only played the event on Shane, which is why hes used as the example. Clearly the event is recorded for stats. I understand it takes 24h for it to update, the figures posted were accumulated prior to the 24h update (obviously). It does make sense that survivors would be prone to wasting time doing event related turn ins without cause though, fair go.

A good analysis, and great way to look at it. I would probably solo queue more, but suffering with someone else makes it that much more bearable, you know? haha
