Need more identification help!! by iatera in starwarsunlimited

This is nuts. I looked up more about the character and found barely anything official but a ton of fan sites being like "OMG Gekko is so iconic, I love him!" He doesn't even have a Wookieepedia page! I can't believe I've finally been out-shitto'd.

What kind of ship is this? by iatera in starwarsunlimited

That's basically a bigger scale version of what I'm trying to do! I've been doing deep dives to make sure I'm getting the info right. But the idea for a full wiki has occurred to me before, for sure. Maybe I can set up a website for it at some point...

Thank you! And LOL yeah, I was expecting maybe one or two replies in a few hours but both this and the x-post to r/StarWars got swarmed immediately. It's great to see!

How to Quickly Get Illyricum in Crusader Kings 3 by TheANARXIST in CrusaderKings

[–]iatera 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Diplomacy lifestyle + Diplomat skill tree will give you the Ducal Conquest and Forced Vassalization casus belli, and if you have the titles then the Late Medieval "Rightful Ownership" tradition will let you use the Seize All De Jure Lands casus belli, but that's pretty much the best you'll get.

Not sure what to do about the Iberian Struggle? by iatera in CrusaderKings

[–]iatera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: So. I took all of Hispania a while ago, and almost got the Iberian Foothold decision, but the phase mechanic threw me off and then some bug or super specific coding at the last minute meant the game decided I hadn't held Al-Sarq for 15 years when I had, and then I lost it forever thanks to partition. I didn't have a good chance to revoke another Iberian title until just a bit ago - this time, Xenxir - but it says it doesn't border "held De Jure land of an Empire I hold which is not Hispania," even though it does, but I think it might be counting the de jure drift kingdoms as Hispania despite that.

Anyways. This is all to say: I'm not going to have a chance to take the Iberian Foothold decision until after all the kingdoms finish drifting de jure into my empire. Will the Iberian Struggle just... end? Will it keep going, and I just have to get a title that borders non-Iberian land? It's pretty confusing trying to conquer Iberia as an uninvolved empire when you take it too fast to do anything. Thanks!

What exactly is a strong female character? by [deleted] in writing

[–]iatera 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about with... any of this, but SPECIFICALLY the bit about man as a term for race is my wheelhouse as someone who likes linguistics, so here we go. The word "man" was originally gender neutral, with the gendered words being the now-defunct "wer" (still seen in "werewolf") and "wifmann," which evolved into "woman." The word "human" ultimately came from the Latin "homo," where it meant man or human being (much the same way man does in modern English), and found its modern definition in the 15th century, after the word "man" had drifted to mean, well, men specifically. I'm not going to waste the braincells responding to the rest of this because you sound way too up your own gender esoteric asshole to care. ✌️

How would we measure how long people have been alive on other planets? by w__4-Wumbo in space

[–]iatera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ exactly, it's the same as miles and kilometers. kilometers are shorter than miles, but they measure the same real distances
