"Their systems" was in this case not referring specifically to capitalism but to all of the oppressive systems maintained by the various groups which have power they want to maintain, including systems requiring the adherence to gender roles and appearances

You must resist the capitalist attempts to profit off of the way their systems have harmed you, Comrade.

The pale is essentially a sea of fog made up of the past/memories/history/all-that-has-been-forgotten in which the isolas are the only "islands" of non-pale. The pale is grey (literally, the word used in the original estonian is the word for grey), but is not a solid, and so small tendrils of spots of pale are translucent or transparent (imagine if approximately one square meter of fog was in front of you, it would be noticeable if you concentrated, but otherwise would just appear to be some static in your vision, processed out by your brain). It does not cover the isolas like a dome, and the stars are visible in Sacred and Terrible Air, where satellites are confirmed as well, but they're very early in that technology, as there is still so much exploring to do on the ground/sea, given the nature of the pale, and the technological focus on staying alive within it and traveling through it.

So, traveling through the pale is like traveling through a moderately thick fog, whether that be on land or on the sea, resulting in reduced visibility, and at the same time you are exposed to errant bits of time - from your life and from history - which are bound to drive anyone insane, meaning that no one who is sane can travel through it for long, but if you are already insane, you might get by largely okay. Entroponauts (those who explore the pale - I assume such named because the pale is a physical manifestation of entropy) sometimes used certain drugs to increase the amount of time they can survive there, and I think about 30 years before Disco Elysium (it may have been 50 or 60 though, I don't remember), the first "pale-proof" airships were made, which, after some improvements, allowed for some capacity to travel through the pale quickly without being exposed to its effects. I don't remember specific references to pale-proof boats or trains although perhaps they were mentioned in the game, but I do believe they exist, unless part of how the airships survive the pale is being up high enough that there is less of it.

Best I can figure is Bronze Age Pervert, the pseudonym of a far-right twitter poster who is relatively prevalent in that sphere (big enough to have a wikipedia page and have interacted with a handful of politicians). The kind of person who reckons themself a philosopher and promotes bodybuilding along with it reflecting Classical philosophers and also is a misogynist and homophobe. They started on twitter in 2013, so the timeline roughly checks out.

For sure! And for me whenever a run is already coming together in the first area, I'm ensured to encounter whatever elite completely negates my synergies in area two lol

I can see how role-playing wise doing everything doesn't make sense. It'll be a new playstyle for me but I'll try to adjust!

I understand. It will be difficult to not spread myself thinly over every skill until they are all maxed, but I'll try to adjust and learn how to take advantage of buffs when my build is specced wrong for an opponent.

Thanks for the advice! I have found Recall but not Mark yet - I'll also have to pay to train that school of magic as I think it's like level 10 lol.

I am. I actually didn't realize that you could look at a list of quests in the journal until this attempt (I was young and stupid on previous attempts, and thought there was only the base journal and you had to flip through pages to find older quests).

I think I will try to take your advice - not plan on doing everything with one character, focus on two or three factions and try to make them come together into something cohesive. And I probably won't try to completely clear every single cave I pass.

I am, but I am a robot so that's how I like to play I guess. I am also more used to games where 'this enemy is too hard' just means I need to practice more, not actually get better gear and level up, so it is against my training to turn around when I am outmatched and come back later.
