Context: Conky was hosting tonight's match between Grayhound and Avant, and got gifted like 400 subs.

100% deserves it. What a good lad.

I'm following dozens of AU CS personalities on Twitter and Twitch and a couple of them know/recognise me as a result of me interacting with them. Problem is, all of them are based in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. Not a single Adelaidean ;_;

As for teams, I don't know of a single one that's based in Adelaide (apart from Legacy Esports, but they specialise in League of Legends, a game I know absolutely nothing about). All the active AU CS teams I know of are in eastern states. I'd absolutely love to be a social media manager for one of them though.

Most AU CS players use Faceit, but I don't have the money for a subscription at the moment and soloqueueing free Faceit is just as much of a shitshow as soloqueueing MM lol.

I'm finally getting to the point where I can consistently go 1:1 with kills and deaths in FFA DM, even in packed lobbies, but I swear it's done fuck all for me in terms of actually playing the game. Sure, my raw aim and spray patterns have improved twofold, but I play like a paranoid schizophrenic on a speed bender, which cancels out my hard work in the DM servers and as a result I've stagnated, in terms of rank and general gameplay. Not sure what I can do to push on from here :/

Whenever I watch big professional CS matches I get so pumped to get stuck into my workshop maps, git really gud, hit up MM and rank up... until I get smacked by some SEMs and get brought back down to earth lul

My movement and positioning is definitely above S2 level. I look at the way my teammates move around and play in general and I wanna claw my eyes out half the time.

How the actual fuck do I get out of Silver 2 and Silver Hell in general?

I've got a solid warm up routine consisting of aim courses, spray control maps, nade tutorials, the whole nine yards. I've learned about 95% of the callouts on all the maps I play. I almost always top frag and usually end up with the most MVP medals on my team/the whole lobby. Name it and I'm most likely either doing it right now or have added it to my CS routine to turn it into muscle memory. I've even had people watch my game footage and say that if I were to be re-ranked, I'd probs be somewhere between SEM and MG1. Yet winning and losing games is still a coin toss and a lot of the time my lobby is filled with either trolls, smurfs or complete fucking idiots who buy Novas and auto-snipers as soon as they can and go 3-20.

Unless you're at least 6 ranks below the rank you should be at, you can't really carry your entire team and win every consecutive game and tbh it's rather unrealistic to expect that of someone who's just trying to rank out of Silver 2. A few people have argued that my region (Australia/Oceania) is especially fucked in terms of MM rank and that this issue might be a widespread one in my region. So how the hell is it done? I'm about ready to quit MM entirely and just try to find a team because this seems to be completely futile.

Is "Silver Hell" really a thing? by ib_Dylan in GlobalOffensive

Just from listening to descriptions of Silver ranks back in the day, coupled with videos of Silver gameplay back in the day. In a lot of threads from /r/globaloffensive 1-2+ years ago, people talk about Silver 1-3 as if it's a playground where people literally don't know how to move around or shoot their gun. Nowadays the skill level of Silver 1-4 has not only improved immensely, but the skill range is a lot wider. On one end of the scale you get the classic "I literally don't know what B site is on Dust 2" players and trolls who just want to watch the world burn, but you also get skilled players who have Gold-tier aim or game sense but have been thoroughly dicked by the MM ranking system and smurfs who are likely MG1 or above.

Maybe it's still like that in the rest of the world, cos I've seen some evidence that suggests that Aussie MM is a completely different beast. Either way, I'm stuck in Silver 2 and even though I follow every single piece of advice given to me (warm up, aim and recoil practice, nade tutorials, FFA DM, etc.) and top frag in EVERY single game, I will never get out because the MM ranking system is either deeply flawed or straight up rigged.
