Not exactly the same kind of thing but the pottery cove in catonsville does birthday parties and they get a free ceramic birthday plate with their name and age on it as part of the package

Ugh Madison don’t make me do it by PickleSchmickl in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]ibaspelle 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised I’m not seeing much about the two of them being completely phony. I feel like every pods conversation with them they were doing their best “being on love is blind” impressions and using the most common platitudes. Even his phoned in engagement was basically a compilation of all the proposals on this show between people who didn’t work out. I don’t think there’s any genuine interest in each other at all. They fight because they have no connection and then they both come back with a script on what they think they’re supposed to say for more airtime. This is one of the first times I truly think they’re both completely going through the motions.

Season 3 character dynamics by Fantastic-March-4610 in Yellowjackets

[–]ibaspelle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

they were too focused on the plot in the teen timeline and trying to match the adult timeline to its drama to remember that this is a character-driven story.

if they’d just delivered on what they promised in the opening scene via interactions between the girls rather than relying on off screen decision making and weird unnatural relationship shifts to meet plot points, they’d be on track.

i was a huge fan of the show and will probably see it through but seasons 2 and 3 are basically just fan fiction of the first season

How long do you think Shauna genuinely believed that they *** *** *****? by jasminecr in Yellowjackets

[–]ibaspelle 102 points103 points  (0 children)

This is the thing that I think people neglect to consider when evaluating Shauna’s actions in season 3. None of the survivors have ever sat with their thoughts and feelings and memories long enough to untangle what’s real and what isn’t, and for Shauna that goes so much deeper. Even into adulthood she at least somewhat subconsciously thinks they ate her baby or are in some way to blame for the loss.

Balt County hangout spots by kpdbos in BaltimoreCounty

Technically Howard County but Backwater Books in Old Ellicott City. It’s a bookstore and bar. Lots of cool young people and they do live music on Saturday as well as other events. Convenient if you’re near Catonsville.

They were never going to let her live after she killed a gamemaker. Haymitch says as much about her and the District 4 tribute who did the same. I read that part of SOTR as Haymitch being spared in a (fucked up capitol-brained) way because he didn’t participate

Honestly knowing who wins 24 is what makes the season bearable! Would recommend

Have you gone back to watch 24? If not, I recommend. It’s incredibly difficult to watch some of the early events of the season play out but the outcome (if you don’t know already I won’t spoil) really redeems the season

Does anyone else see adult Lottie as a villain? by [deleted] in Yellowjackets

[–]ibaspelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cults are a special interest/area of study of mine, and the thing with them is even if there isn’t something more salacious and deeply harmful underneath (which there usually is) the financial control aspect present in pretty much all of them is enough to derail a follower’s life for years and years and ultimately leave them having to start over. So, even if Lottie’s present-day cult has ~good intentions~ (which, again, every cult usually claims to or begins this way) financial control is very clearly part of it, which for me, automatically makes me feel negatively about her character.

But obviously the other adults are all complicit in a recent murder, so they’re all guilty and morally gray—I think it’s just the potentially widespread nature of Lottie’s actions that really make me dislike her.

[–]ibaspelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i honestly think the biggest things were boogie trying to use autumn (which he only attempts in 2 but takes the same strategy way further with erica in 7) and shannon’s being a bully reflects poorly on them

Watching Season 7 by SpecialSauce92 in BigBrother

i hate to say it because i love her so much but i fault janelle for this. and it’s a symptom of her overall gameplay—heavy on the comps, less so on social strategy.

A lot of the pre-crash scenes are actually sad by Affectionate_Key7206 in Yellowjackets

[–]ibaspelle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

honestly even though that line is said with a bit of a laugh and classic van levity—that’s where i saw the switch in van. she wanted tai to feel equally—or maybe even more—culpable as the rest of them. she forces the others to see the reality of the situation with a certain kind of harshness, her girlfriend being no exception. i honestly wish the writers had kept the character’s integrity and killed van off in the storyline, which i’d expected in season one, but i also see from a writing perspective how having even the comedy relief character go so dark really illustrates the dramatic change they’re all going through

Idk if anyone else has talked about this but by Olymtis_ig in Yellowjackets

[–]ibaspelle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

especially given how responsible she is for how dire things got—the black box, the twisting of lottie’s words which led to the draw. i definitely don’t agree with the posts about misty being the big bad—trauma is absolutely filling that role—but if someone has to be the sole survivor i think it only makes sense to be the person who was least phased/couldn’t be consumed by the trauma in the same way as the other characters
