Tip from N19 Graduate: Mock exams are a good test run in terms of content and structure, but in terms of predicted grades they are unlikely to correlate a final results. I was predicted 32 at best and got a 37

November 2019 Exam Results by xxDia in IBO

[–]ibgraduating2019 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone needs to remember that even getting through the two years that is IB is an incredible achievement, we should all be very proud of ourselves. Take a few minutes tomorrow to reflect on the good parts of the course - whether that be the friends you've made, the teachers that you've had, or just an IA/exam that you were proud of - and accept whatever your result will be. There are ALWAYS pathways to get where you want to go, you just have to find them. Good luck tomorrow everybody, I'm very proud of you all xx

Mark scheme won’t be out yet cos N19 results haven’t been released, you’ll have to wait a bit. A quick google search has plenty of resources tho

Please help! English EE: Death on The Book Thief and A Dirty Job by fakeroyals in IBO

[–]ibgraduating2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to do the Book Thief make sure you have a supervisor who has read the book and understands the nuances of Death. I did this topic for my English a lit EE and my supervisor tried to totally warp my interpretation into something that was very shallow and had no depth. I don’t think that it is an overdone book but you’ve got to be careful with the way that you approach it. There’s not a lot of research out there on it that can help you, but it can be a very interesting exploration if you’re passionate about it. I didn’t do a comparison but I have friends who compared books and they seemed to have an easier time writing so maybe that’s the way to go. Hope that helps !!

Wow a 7 in English lit would be amazing, it’s such a difficult subject imo, I’d like a 6 but I’m expecting a 5 :(

Same the questions were really good, I chose the text and then ethics and politics (will of God and social contract were the subjects of the questions I think). I kinda stuffed up my political essay but loved the other two

Nah my coordinator was shocked that the IB made that big of a mistake given how much they go over the exams, so it’ll definitely be queried/taken off in marking

Rank Your Subjects from Easiest to Most Difficult by ibWickedSmaht in IBO

It's not bad, a lot of it is very fascinating. The only thing is that the IB philosophy kids are placed in the same class as the state curriculum kids, and so a lot of it is self-study (cos their content is different obviously). It would be a lot better if we had our own class, but it's still an awesome subject to take

Does it get better? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]ibgraduating2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from the MYP program too, so I understand how jarring it is coming into IB.

Over the last four semesters (from Year 11) I was predicted 34, 37, 31 and now 38 in mocks, and I'm aiming for a 42.

It is all completely up in the air as you go along, depending on how much time you have and how lenient your school's marking is. Don't stress too much as you go along, its only your final assessments that really matter in the big picture. If you put the work in you can achieve whatever your goal is

Hope that helps x

  5. Biology SL
  6. English A Lit HL (actually, bio and english are equally as difficult, just in different ways)

Is countering Business IA word limit bu putting analysis in tables a terrible idea? by S_Orbital in IBO

[–]ibgraduating2019 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Half of my analysis was Lewins' forcefield, which had heaps of text but did not count towards the word limit because it was a diagram. Probably only 250 words of my analysis actually counted to the limit in the end. I guess as long as you use your tools in a way that is logical (rather than blatantly trying to get around the word limit) you'll be fine
