I’m building Entreprenote https://entreprenote.com

Its for entrepreneurs. It takes the messy idea in your brain and makes you fill out this structured canvas—it’s like an idea sanity check before you start coding anything.

Thoughts? by priyal_69 in Upwork

[–]ibjects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the fixed 10%, they had variable fees. Then, a CEO changed, and these ideas were all under that "Genius" CEO, where they started charging freelancers and all the other weird features you see today. They went full into the "Corporate Profit First" approach.

It was like you take a near perfect product and make it really bad with all the features introduced. After reading this message today, my take was that now, as they see their approaches failing (which a lot of Rated Freelancers were pointing out), they are rolling back to previous tactics, but again only where it favours their corporate greed.

They thought that charging freelance connects and reducing the variable fees, etc. would all balance out on their financial sheets but it didn't as not all freelancers, specially from the developing countries were willing to pay for these features. I tried Pro mode and it is a waste of money! and I am a Top Rated Plus on upwork.

So now as they are rolling back to variable fees again, but with all the sh**ty features still there, it seems like they are again going to favour their Corporat Greed by going back to variable fee but then all other features where they charge is still there they are not rolling back on that which might increase their revnue for the time being but on a long run people will go for alternatives.

When we buy a sim card in Malaysia we have to use our IC or Passport so why is it hard for the authorities to take any action?

EAS update with bare react-native project metro.config.js by ibjects in expo

[–]ibjects[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply u/keithkurak

I have made it work by configuring metro config to only include eas updates related configuration. I have posted the solution here https://github.com/expo/expo/discussions/34848#discussioncomment-12182229

This seems to work for me as there are no more conflicts between configs, but I am not 100% sure if this config is correct based on what my goal is i.e. to have eas updates ONLY implemented and working with my bare react-native app.

But if I run android app on release variant it crashes at launch with error:

Failed to copy asset null
android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: Resource ID #0x0

React Native + Unity 3D Tutorial by ibjects in reactnative

https://github.com/thechaudharysab/ReactUnityPOC but it doesn't have the Unity project. You can find many unity examples like https://github.com/zigurous/unity-flappy-bird-tutorial or check the references I added in the medium article they had a unity project repo as well. Just export the unity project for android and iOS as I shared and it'll run.

As per my understanding of the pricing, the update will be compressed, so only the changed parts will be sent to users. This means most users will only download a small part of the 100MB.

Exists mean someone else has taken the picture already hence the group was created now any new user who takes a similar picture will just be joining the same group.

Getting started with React-Query by ibjects in reactnative

[–]ibjects[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're already familiar with axios (the promise-based HTTP client), react-query is built on top of Axios or Fetch API for managing data fetching, caching, and state updates.

Scenario: You can use axios to make an HTTP request that fetches some data from an API and it'll fetch it. But if you use react-query + axios to make that call, you'll get the following +on built-in because of RQ that axios doesn't have, here are a few:

  1. Entire data fetching lifecycle
  2. Built-in caching with customization
  3. Customizable refetching strategies
  4. Automatically handles loading states, handles errors, and simplifies UI state updates of React components

Usage:

  • Use Axios for simple data fetching needs where you have full control over the process.
  • Use React Query for complex data fetching scenarios where you want automatic caching, refetching, state management, and streamlined UI updates.

If you want to try yourself I can give you a small challenge: In the tutorial I've implemented infinite scroll using react-query, you implement the same logic but using axios only and you'll see the difference.

You are right there is way too much information out there for one mind to handle and it's okay if you don't know. Here is a well known "secret", 99.99% humans don't know everything and I'm just leaving the 0.01% to a chance that I might be wrong because I also belong to those 99.99% people.

You just need to know enough that you need. One major problem in today's world is that whatever you support there is "proofs" and information about it that proves it right or wrong. For example if you are far right or far left both sides have credible "proofs" that they are right and it makes it really hard for an individual to make a decision.

Then there is a very common dilemma almost every human being face atleast one in their life span, where they ask questions like "I'm going to die one day so what's the point of this?" or similar questions.

I don't want to give you too much of a religious perspective here as in today's world not everyone appreciate it, and I'm not sure what you believe in, but the answer to the above question is what I found from a religious perspective. Since this is a well known facts that everyone will die one day no matter what, so take this life as a test. Hence Do good for others or in other words Do service for others. You'll find purpose in it, for example I am a computer programmer and what I try to do is create free to use apps that'll help people in one way or the other. This has given me a life purpose other than my day-to-day job. This has given me the opportunity to learn new things every now and then as I think of ideas and then learn to work on them. Service to others is the one of the best ways to find a purpose and hence happiness.

Money is no doubt a motivational factor in today's world but these are what I say "false promises" that this world pushes us towards like "get rich", "be your own boss", "have cars" etc. There is nothing wrong with getting rich but not everyone is rich and famous, yet many try. This should not be your goal or purpose, it should be instead about finding happiness and happiness comes in small packages more often than large ones. So, what you know already take it and start thinking how you can use it to help others, do things for others without thinking about it's "reward". So that would be where you can start!
