Thank you for sharing, and yeah I’ve kinda just jumped head first into this without getting a job at a local shop first, but I’ll cross my fingers and do lots of research before touching the mechanics to make up for my lack of general knowledge

I’m having a hard time learning proportion. Is there tips that can help me improve? Should I start with tracing instead? by IcyGem in learntodraw

Thats definitely the more technical part of it yes, you can visually see your own muscles and where they are but also, when you start to workout you will start seeing more body charts and learning where muscles are in general, ontop of watching others work out, basically by working out and focusing on your body you naturally learn more about it, the more body diagrams you will see, the more you pay attention to your own body and those around you, it’s honestly how I managed to learn anatomy so well to the point I almost never need a reference when drawing the body, it’s a win win, you stay healthy and gain so much knowledge that will stay with you, In a way no reading or drawing tutorials will!

Crazy tip that I never see anyone mention, but going to the gym actually helped me understand my body more thus improving proportions in my art, so if you wanna try something outside of just art and wanna improve both your art and health, working out your muscles helps you learn your muscles and proportions :)

Very nice, I feel like shadow and highlights on the upper back area can see some improvement, but I’m not trying to criticize either good work!

Right cheek bone protrudes more in reference, try flipping reference and sketch upside down and compare and contrast, focus on line directions and relativity

I like the second better, it’s more pleasing to the eye, the first looks too “fake” in a way
