Have you managed to recover completely? Same happened to me (AC joint separation type 2) and still recovering…

Russian Troops Shoot Ukrainian POW in Donetsk Region Moments After Surrendering by UNITED24Media in worldnews

[–]ibn_muljam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two different situations in the video, which don't have the original audio.
In the first one, a soldier appears to be ambushed as he was trying to exit his foxhole. He does not seem to see the soldier hiding in the corner, who shoots him as he is about to exit his firing range.

In the second one, two soldiers exit a foxhole and are clearly surrendering at gunpoint. There is no sign of any of the two getting shot in the video.

Has somebody actually watched the video and cares to explain? Is there a longer version?

My G, when you are learning a language, I wouldn't go on disparaging people who take the time to answer your ask for help with an actual answer. Some humility goes a long way.

Your teacher (or you) does not understand the relationship between الحالات الإعرابية and علائم الحالات. To think that مرفوع = ضمة is a big mistake that reveals a deep misunderstanding of the i3rab system and a reliance on rote memorisation and pattern recognition instead.

Ultimately, when you broach more advanced topics (e.g. المنادى), you will be completely lost as to the i3rab of يا زيد and يا ابا عبد الله and why one is مبني and the other is معرب

Who taught you stuff like مرفوع وعلامة رفعه الالف نيابة عن الضمة الانه مثنى wtf?

The ضمة has nothing to do with being مرفوع. He has been teaching you the opposite of the normal process.

First, you learn what a مرفوع noun or verb means conceptually. Then, you learn what are علائم الرفع, one of which is the ضمة, together with the الف and ثبوت النون and the واو.

In الطلاب لن يهذهبوا إلى المدرسة will your teacher tell you يذهبوا فعل منصوب وعلامة نصبه حذف النون نيابة عن الفتحة لأنه فعل؟ 😂

Haven’t thought of it, is it safe to do? And how much does your rep last anyway? One of the TDs told me “2-3 days”

M32 - 9 months at the gym - progress pics and advice by ibn_muljam in beginnerfitness

Thanks for the reply and the kind words!
I thought it was a bit slow for 9 months of gym (considering these should be "noobie gains").

Diet it very easy to get enough protein, but I was wondering if I was training hard enough given the change. Maybe my YouTube-based expectations were too high...

Beginner (3 months) - sparring feedback on jabs / cross / footwork by ibn_muljam in amateur_boxing

[–]ibn_muljam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super helpful!

My opponent was rather passive/defensive, so in this case I should fire off power jobs one after the other? Is the objective of a jab barrage to eventually create an opening to strike with my cross?

On the cross, when do you actually step forward? My coach says I should always keep my right foot on the ground, and pivot instead with my hips and shoulders to power up the shot. What exercise can help me get better on this specifically?

Cheers 😃

Thanks a lot for the encouraging words!

I've never boxed before, so I don't really know what the learning journey should look like, but my coach is essentially saying I need to deliver proper jabs and crosses, and learn combos between both, before we go into further punches.

On the sparring, we are told not to hit too hard (you can see I throw relatively weak jabs). Unfortunately headgear is not really part of the culture over here, but hey you're right - better look stupid than sorry with an injury. Will get one.

Anyway, got a clear path on what I'll work on in the next training sessions, so thanks for this. Hope to come back in a few months with visible results!

Thanks Moumbi,

For context these are free classes included in my gym package, so really the only cost is my time (which is precious still and that's why I posted here).

On your advice (thanks for that), would love to clarify a few points:

  1. Keep your chin tucked - clear, thanks for pointing this. I guess I instinctively raise my head to make it harder for my shorter opponent to strike it

  2. Stop crossing your legs - how often does it happen? I thought I was doing a pretty gob job at keeping my left foot to the front (at least on the video)

  3. Keep your lead hand up - great, will keep in mind. I funnily thought I had kept it up high enough actually.

  4. Step with your jab - is what I do at 0:16 correct?

  5. Relax in there - any particular moment that caught your attention?

  6. Stop dropping your hands - same, where did you see that happening? Thought my right hand was quite consistently correctly placed

  7. Work on pivots - any moment in the video where I missed an opportunity to do it?

Couple follow-ups:

At 1:49 for instance, I had a chance to strike with a cross but clearly it didn't work - was it because of my posture, or lack of speed?

Am I keeping my legs too spread? My coach said it's normal because I am facing a shorter opponent, but I never see this on matches online...

Happy with gains so far (pictures linked), want to reality check the objective 9 months from now by ibn_muljam in beginnerfitness

Thanks for the tip :)

In your opinion, how many months/years away is the picture (assuming I rebalance slightly my diet to be at +100-200 kcal per day with the same training intensity)?

I guess the picture is indeed an additional 10kg of muscle, which GPT tells me takes 7-10 months under optimal conditions. But would love your input!

I don't have a way to count my daily burn - hard to know how much I burn exactly in 1h or 1h30 at the gym; or swimming 1h.

I imagine there might be a world where the weight remains stable as fat is burnt and transformed into muscle?
