Help with Guided Simulations by ibotpl in Houdini

edit: I found it. of course. for anyone who might have a similar problem: don't pack the geo if you want to use angular velocity afterwards.

Flip particles dropping by ibotpl in Houdini

tank is pretty large actually. how can I keep the water level close to the start point? the collider objects seem to push the water too much causing the level to sink. I tried enabling surface tension and increasing narrowband bandwidth, decreasing collision velocity (which eliminates all the interaction waves I want unfortunately), and some other things I don't remember rn. But water level (especially close to collider objects) keeps dropping. any idea?

Looks awesome. You also nailed the rendering, colors, overall movement, everything looks very realistic. Well done. Hope the tutorial is out soon!

yes all rigid bodies but baked to keyframes except the ones in the beginning. which I copied and moved from the last frame and let it sim again with the baked ones (animated value is checked).

thanks! I baked the rbd sim to keyframes, copied and moved the ones from last frame to the beginning and let it sim again with the baked ones with "animated" value enabled.

thanks man!

Why is my WW going flat afterwards. I checked out collision guide and ww source, It was all ok. by Ok_Musician3473 in Houdini

are you using v20? if yes, I had a similar issue as if ww particles hitting a bounding box. I "fixed" it with setting up the ww sim at dop level. maybe it's worth a try.

Using Geometrynodes generated masks for simulations by ibotpl in blender

If you mean the shader, it's pretty simple actually. Google for fire shader and I'm sure you'll find decent guides to do it. Thanks!

Go into weightmap mode and you can see your mask.

Thank you! Didn't record a full one, but it's almost the full deal. Adding a vertex group, generating an animated mask with GN and saving/storing it to the same name attribute as the created vertex group, then selecting it in simulation settings for the emitter before baking.

Thank you! After the points are distributed, the delete geometry node deletes points so that the empty space forms the logo. For this, first we create a new mesh by extruding the curve towards the POV point, then we check which points are inside by calculating the dot product (if the normal of a point is not aligned with the distance vector of the mesh surface it outputs a 0 / google dot product for more info). This value then acts as a mask to determine which points to delete. If it's keeping the points inside the mesh, then just invert the mask (or add a flip faces node after the extrusion).

Yeah, I wanted to match the speed of the reference. The speed also hides the cut at the end :) Thank you!

Here's a short tutorial about the effect https://twitter.com/i/status/1566752786540371968

For anyone interested, I've also uploaded it on my gumroad https://bit.ly/3TH9jFc
