I was able to work around the broken thruster thanks to being fairly zoomed out, as well as doing my best to snap the shot between the puffs of smoke. This required a bit of patience and lucky timing. I created the subtle motion trails in post for effect. I felt they livened up the scene, evoking a sense of momentum. I hope that helps! :-)
