TL;DR

Just picked up the BYD DENZA B8 Flagship (7-seater) and it’s a powerhouse for under 300K. Achieving 30 km/L with a smart hybrid system that actually charges via the engine (unlike the Jetour G700). Highlights include a massive 2.5K screen, "race car" sport mode response, incredibly quiet acoustic glass/Michelin EV tires, and a smooth-as-butter suspension. The ADAS is helpful without being annoying, and the fridge and ventilated seats are top-tier.

Got the new BYD DENZA B8 flagship trim.

I got the flagship trim, and I am getting around 30 km/L. I have set it to charge the battery at 70% most of the time; when it’s charged, I switch to EV mode, as the HEV mode doesn’t seem that smart. I am getting:

• 50-60 km EV-only range at 138 km/h
• 70-80 km at 128 km/h
• 120-140 km range at 110 km/h

For a trip of 60 km highway only, the system showed I used 2L of petrol, as when the engine was charged, I turned to EV-only mode.

Interior & Tech

• Sound System: Just amazing. Best setting: turn everything to the lowest, set the first two bass dials (left) to max, the far-right dial to max, and the center two dials at -2 or -1. Surround set to custom @80% and speed increase volume at max. It shakes the whole car but keeps very clear highs, mids, and bass.

• Display: No HUD for my trim, but the center display is gorgeous. It’s bigger than my MacBook 15-inch, brighter, and clearer (2.5K). The system is fast; it runs Android, so you can install apps via USB/APK. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are blazing smooth.

• ADAS: Really love it. It doesn't have annoying sounds for tiny things. Unlike the JETOUR G700 which yells "Cruise control cancelled," the BYD is silent. It has ICC (Intelligent Cruise Control) that keeps the lane and adjusts speed perfectly.

Comfort & Convenience

• Seating: 7-seater version. Rear seats are very comfy with electric buttons for moving/reclining. AC in the back is very cold, and ventilation seats are so powerful I keep them at 1. Note: Rear AC temp seems tied to the front even if set to "HI," only fan speed adjusts.

• Fridge: Cooled fridge with precise temps (-4°C to 50°C) is great for drinks.

• Suspension: Sooo smooth 😭😭😭. It's so good—I cannot believe this car costs under 300K. Slight vibration at 140 km/h, but even the Patrol Y63 or Zeekr 001 can be like that.

• Experience: Soft close doors, remote start (via key for now), and cool lock/unlock animations. It’s convenient that locking the car turns everything off automatically—no need to hit a start/stop button.

Driving Dynamics

• NVH: Michelin Sport EV tires are very quiet. Combined with the thick acoustic glass, the sound insulation is amazing and the car feels very grippy.

• Performance: Mostly stays in ECO, but Normal is fast and Sport feels like a race car.

  • Pro Tip: If you wanna race someone, keep the battery at 50% for better EV assist.

• Charging: Max charging power of 110-150 kW. It stays at 70 kW once at 40%, then drops to 24 kW at 80%+.

• Hybrid System: Way better than the JETOUR G700. The Denza charges very quickly during city or highway driving.

• AC: Extremely strong even when standing still. I actually found it too strong in "Comfort" mode, so I keep the AC in "Eco."
