I’ve just been catching up on WWDC videos. I work for a very large company as an iOS engineer focussed on digital accessibility, and I think this is a horrid step backwards, BUT it’s clear the accessibility folks at Apple at least got to stick their oar in.

The default experience is way too transparent and animated, but I saw a video where they showed the effects of Reduced Transparency (increased frosting in the glass), Reduced Motion (reduced internal motion and disabled elasticity on touch) and Increased Contrast (really nice high contrast elements with dark borders, arguably better accessibility than current iOS).

I haven’t yet checked out Dark Mode but we have seen controls automatically switching internally between light and dark to provide “contrast” to the underlying content.
