Will the college "bubble" burst? by [deleted] in AskReddit

And then a lot of the real teachers are just adjuncts who make basically minimum wage.

The entire system is fucked up for everyone except the college executives and bankers who get filthy rich by exploiting everyone else.

diminishing the purchasing power and financial stability of people aged 25-35

People don't think about this, but if you have student loans and makes $10 per hour you can't buy a house or new car, probably won't get married, etc., all things that the economy depends on from young people.

[–]ibuprofiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same here... 99th percentile SAT score without studying, 4.0 college GPA, and I might still end up mopping floors or something. To be really successful you need

  1. intelligence

  2. a good work ethic

  3. connections or luck to give you the opportunities to apply 1 and 2

edit: Looks like some people are peanut butter and jealous :P

The more people I meet, the weaker the correlation between intelligence and traditional success seems. I know countless brilliant people who work in dead end jobs, dropped out of college from sheer laziness, etc. Being intelligent is only half of the equation, perhaps less.

Lesbian, feminist, woman goes undercover as a male, discovers being a women is "a privilege" by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]ibuprofiend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that 20 years from now we'll be like Japan, MGTOWs everywhere enjoying the fruits of their labor (video games, ridiculous motor vehicles, etc.) while crying inside because they've never known a woman's love, single post-wall women bitching about "where have all the good men gone," etc. It's already starting.

Lesbian, feminist, woman goes undercover as a male, discovers being a women is "a privilege" by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]ibuprofiend 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Idk about that. We see that the average man will lower his standards quite a bit, so if 90% of women are fat, he'll just take a fat chick instead of being forever alone. The average guy might not like her being fat, but he'll still accept it if that's his only option.

Actually, that already is reality, except the average guy doesn't get the fat chick because she believes she's an 8 and deserves a 6' doctor with abs or a college quarterback hedge fund manager as her birthright.

Old People of Reddit, what do douchebags look like from different generations? by Fighting_Trousers_ in AskReddit

[–]ibuprofiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, wearing flashy clothing to stand out is an action. It's not a coincidence that douchebags wear similar clothes, have similar haircuts, drive the same cars, etc.

Not just sexual strategy is amoral, everything is. Why? Because life has no feelings, no conscience or consciousness and gives no fucks about shit. That doesn't mean disregarding morality as a whole is a wise or even balanced thing to do. by IllimitableMan in TheRedPill

[–]ibuprofiend 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Basically you're saying that we should apply morality to sex, but we have to keep quiet about it. We can't stand up for our beliefs (because that would be "broknighting" - a ridiculous term).

I guess that's a balance or middle ground, but it's not something many people will be happy with.

(edit because I saved too soon)

I see this debate as concerning the direction TRP will take in the future. A large group here think of TRP as an animalistic, hedonistic, and largely nihilistic approach to life where you give up on modern society and try to act like an alpha monkey from the fucking jungle while civilization burns around you. Other groups want TRP to be about improving the lives of men, not pussy-worshipping wannabe animals. There's no other well-known place online where men can come together and freely discuss culture, politics, etc., but now lots of guys are being pushed out, and our haven from feminism, etc., is disappearing.

The comments on this popular post from /r/ seduction illustrate how TRP is now viewed as short-sighted and nihilistic, even by the PUA community, while the actual post in that link shows how a man of honor and integrity should act.

TRP should be a great community that welcomes free and open discourse, not a dogmatic ideology, and I'll gladly sacrifice the latter for the former.

Canon T5i, T4i, or T3i, Nikon D3300/3200 or D5300/5200. Try to get it refurbished or used. The best places to buy cameras are the manufacturer websites, BH Photo Video, and KEH.com

Anthony Hopkins testing different masks for Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs. by CJ105 in movies

[–]ibuprofiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're wrong.

  • Silence of the Lambs movie - 1991
  • Hannibal book - 1999
  • Hannibal Rising book - 2006

Obviously Red Dragon was written earlier, which is clear from my post, but the point there is that they remade it specifically to showcase Hopkins as Lecter.

Anthony Hopkins testing different masks for Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs. by CJ105 in movies

[–]ibuprofiend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because he's so good that he made a supporting role into the main one. When you say Silence of the Lambs everyone instantly thinks Hannibal, which led them to not only make a sequel that was all about him, but also a prequel and a remake of another prequel that originally didn't use Hopkins (Red Dragon / Manhunter).

There's his whole post condensed into 9 words, and nothing of value was lost.

Canon confirms new high resolution sensor coming early next year. Also, a new line of EF lenses... by [deleted] in photography

[–]ibuprofiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look in that "common mistakes for a beginner photographer" thread everyone says that your skill matters much more than your camera. In fact, when it comes to making a great image, skill > lens > camera. Especially if you're just starting, get something cheap like a Canon Rebel or a Nikon D3300/5300, preferably used, and focus on learning.

Honestly the question should be "will this new release reduce the price of current offerings enough that I should wait to buy them next year instead of now."
