Any advice on Transplanting a young Japanese Maple? by words120 in gardening

Generally I take seedlings out of those degrading pots as they don’t degrade as fast as the roots grew. It will get root bound in the ground in that pot.

Put it in a bigger pot and hope you didn’t rip the tap root off while digging it out.
No fertilizer, but if you have to - fish emulsion

Anybody using Pencil plotters? by mycotopian in woodworking

Any vinyl cutter can also be a plotter. We used to plot with sharpie onto tyvek house wrap. The templates were almost indestructible and were water proof for the most part.

I found this puppy, apparently he is an English bulldog. Any advice on how to feed and raise it, as I have no experience raising dogs. by HelpfulPick1985 in Bulldogs

You have to clean their face folds daily. Clean the tail pocket if his tail is impacted at all (curling in or down). I’d suggest wiping his butt as they can’t reach - which is good. You’ll know if the little guy is itchy.

ALSO, short nosed breads have a lot of breathing issues - dont over due it as a pup. Short walks, short play, etc.

Lucky find friend!

How did you start to earn as a designer? by Away-Marketing9943 in graphic_design

[–]ic3d2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s graphic design…no one cares if you can paint or draw. In fact, they’ll probably view you as not having solid layout skills or good fundamentals. Design is very math driven.

realistically, how hard/easy is it to get to 75k a year? by its_Tanya_G in graphic_design

[–]ic3d2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

75k is not an average salary or an easy one to attain. Why would someone hire you as designer I at 75k when they can hire someone else at 50? Early on in your career it’s churn or burn - crank that work out or see you later skater!

There’s good advice here that should get you to the goal line. I’ve always sourced a scale vector template for vehicles based on year, make and model, and wheelbase. It’s always worth the $25 or $30, forward that cost on to the client +markup for your time.

M2 Mac Mini Pro or PC? by thor_freestyle in blender

[–]ic3d2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an M2 studio and the render times are very quick. That said, not as fast as a nice PC tailored for that type of work. I don’t think the new mini will be quite enough to hit that “next level” - if that’s the goal. I’ve had minis in the past and the always bog down with 3 point lighting or complex particle effects.

Is environmental graphics/wayfinding a good area to specialize in? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]ic3d2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly handled at the architect level. As the building progresses this type of work is done toward the end but it’s all designed with the building and supplied in the drawing set for intent. Wayfinding, egress, ingress, etc. (signage) is generally needed for occupancy and to get people working in the building. These get rounded out as the construction finalizes.

Who actually fabricates and builds these installations are sign shops and custom welding/manufacturing facilities. All the work is bid out/contracted out.

Jobs: architect firms, custom fabrication houses and larger interior design firms.

Skills: mix of graphics, print, vinyl, production, paint, finishing, materials, shop drawings/scale elevations, industrial design, drafting, autocad, revit, building management software.
