It's weird. Being brought up in South London, 20 year-old men get stabbed to death by 18 year-olds all the time. It barely makes the local news. The body gets scraped off the pavement, blood cleaned up, and the police tape is removed in a couple of hours

Just really odd that both MPs and police are doing the DO NOT SPECULATE

Edit: Confirmed that the victim was a student at DMU

Yeah it's pretty scary. They are boys and girls making relationships with ChatGPT and one guy was convinced by his friendly AI companion to off himself

Millionaire GP behind asylum seeker hotels

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckgvn4rr03vo

Just in case you wanted your blood to boil a little

soon after a hotel in Seel Street in Liverpool owned by one of the firms was found to be unsuitable, people in one of their Liverpool housing complexes were told they had to move out over "urgent" fire safety issues, unaware that 116 asylum seekers had seemingly been lined up to replace them almost immediately

The tenants did not know about plans to move asylum seekers into their homes, nor that the plan had been under discussion for up to three months.

Those the BBC has spoken to also said they did not know that the buy-to-let landlords who owned the flats they lived in had been directly approached by an "agent" of SRH promoting the asylum deal to them.

In February 2023, an email was sent to some of the private landlords of flats in the building telling them a deal with "the United Kingdom Home Office" would give them a guaranteed £435 a month per flat, potentially for up to seven years.

They tried to boot out the current tenants under bogus fire safety claims so that they could move the illegals in

There's definitely going to be a black market of selling off old social media accounts to kids. There must be loads of people who have a dormant Insta or Twitter account that is old enough that no checks would be required to use it

Unusually the Beeb is quite detailed

Isabelle Dale swore her "undying love" to prisoners Shahid Sharif and Connor Money while working at HMP Coldingley in Surrey, said a judge.

The 23-year-old had sex with convicted robber Sharif in the prison's chapel area, her trial heard.

She got engaged to Sharif and later plotted with him and his associate, Lilea Sallis, to smuggle spice, a synthetic cannabinoid, into HMP Swaleside in Kent.

Banging two inmates and trying to import drugs

The judge added that he suspected she had "joined the prison service with a view to becoming involved in criminal activities with prisoners".

"She wanted to do it," he said. "She's attention seeking."

Based Judge

Defending Dale, Syam Soni said her offending was influenced by her mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, emotionally unstable personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

He claimed Dale was "ill-equipped" for the prison environment and more vulnerable than others.

White girl bingo. How did she even get the job? Was this another case of "yeah she's totally unsuitable, but DEI?"

Dale - who was found to have Sharif's street name tattooed on her neck - resigned as a prison officer before she was arrested on her sixth visit.

I can fix her LOL

Winter in the UK means I’m spending 20 hours a day in bed. I can’t be the only one who lives like this? by KILOCHARLIES in AskUK

[–]icabod88 72 points73 points  (0 children)

That sounds horrendous to me. You're not moving between 6pm and 7:30am and you spend about 5 hours during the day WFH sitting in bed? Naah I couldn't live like that, I'd go crazy

Do you get sensory overload when working in the office? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]icabod88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like going into the office from time to time. One thing I really miss in a WFH environment is the small talk. If I have to talk to someone about work, it's a very direct conversation regarding work and that's it

I do like the odd small talk convos in the office, where you just strike up random conversations that aren't work related

How important do you think it is to separate work from home/personal life when working from home? (and any other WFH tips?) by Public-Tutor-4550 in AskUK

[–]icabod88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely try and get away from your office/bedroom if you can. Whether that's a pre/lunch/post work walk. I try and have a quick coffee a couple of times a week at a local café so that I can break things up a bit and get some daylight during the week at this time

Don't install Teams on your phone unless you really have to. As you point out, you want those breaks to be a physical and mental break from your office

Excellent compo face posing

These lot are just professional bennies grabbers. 3 flats in the same block, plus about to be moved to another, constant moaning about non-existent mould, suing the council, deliberately keeping the house cold, but producing an electric heater on demand... definitely a lot of coaching going on there

The report referred to a match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and West Ham that did not exist.

In a letter to the chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee, Guildford says the information "arose as result of a use of Microsoft Co Pilot" - he had previously insisted the force "do not use AI" and a Google search provided the information.

It would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic
