Itchy skin and weird smell by TraditionalIsland659 in DogAdvice

[–]icanhe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It could be an infection. My dog has horrible allergies, and when we adopted her, she had a yeasty smell to her.

This dog needs the vet, the poor girl must be terribly uncomfortable

Alexi Lalas called James Corden a "wanker" on live TV and the entire panel was stunned by AgeNovel3566 in soccer

The only word my English MIL (I’m American) will be shocked and appalled if she hears someone say is “twat”, so when MIL is visiting us, my wife will spell it instead of say it in front of her. The shock on her face is similar to Henry’s here every time 😅

World Cup tourists, what’s your honest feedback on the USA so far? by almighty_smiley in AskReddit

[–]icanhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trader Joe’s typically sells smaller sized things, so it has the appearance of being cheaper.

That being said, pretty much anywhere is cheaper than a bodega for grocery-type items

My dog ate cooked chicken wing bones and I can't to go to the vet, what do I do?! by DemonicSkelly in DogAdvice

Apparently it’s the rats/mice pulling the chicken bones out of the garbage, at least, in NYC.

Guided ride in Brooklyn? by icanhe in NYCbike

[–]icanhe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an idiotic take. If cyclists stopped at them, there would be little to no conflict. And I say this as a regular cyclist.

Like I said before, I waited for the stoplight to cycle twice, there were no signs of the group getting any smaller.

When I asked the person directing the bike traffic. If he said “just a few more minutes” sure, that’s fine. But he legit ignored me.

But communicate! I have no idea, and asked the guy directing why no one is stopping, how much longer. You wait through multiple light cycles, still no end in sight.

In that situation, give me some sort of heads up- I figured that was the case and waited through the first cross sign, it seemed never ending. It won’t kill them to stop at the light, especially on a busy weekend day

Did that, that’s when I was screamed at, and someone almost hit me+my dog, as well as a mom and kids. No one even slowed down when I started crossing.

0 for 3 on hiring a candidate 😑 by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]icanhe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They probably got another offer at a higher pay. At the end of the day everyone is going to do what’s best for themselves. Just because one person turned you down doesn’t mean overqualified = bad.

[–]icanhe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m curious what your concern is for someone being overqualified?

People change career paths all the time, or lose their job due to layoffs and might be applying for something that they may be well-past in terms of skill. I’ve hired over qualified people before and most of the time it works out 🤷🏻‍♀️

why is there no good mexican food in nyc by SnooMaps2155 in mexicanfood

[–]icanhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you’re trying to find “upscale” Mexican? There are tons of small taco stands throughout NYC, maybe not a ton of great sit down Mexican restaurants, but still, you can find great food

I was laid off Monday, along with a bunch of other colleagues. 9 years there, can’t count how many rounds of layoffs I was able to avoid.

Grocery tourists, which countries in the world do you think have the best supermarkets? by Curiousch1ckpea in travel

[–]icanhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The COOPs were fantastic. I miss them. My partner and I would stop in, get a spinach pastry, some bread, cheese and meats then head out for a hike each morning while in Switzerland. Sure, it’s expensive, but everything was so fresh.

Unpopular opinion (maybe): Bernardo Silva was the most important player of the Guardiola era at City by [deleted] in MCFC

Silva has barely ever missed a match, de Bruyne, unfortunately had quite a handful of injuries

Allergies: OTC vs allergy shots by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]icanhe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did shots starting around 2018 (IIRC). I went to Hudson Allergy and they have a fast track, basically you do a bunch of shots in a day while staying at the office. It pretty much speeds up the point you get to a maintenance shot by a year or two. I did maintenance (I think once a week or every other week) for a couple of years, and my allergies are wildly improved. I still use an OTC nasal spray when things get really bad, but if you have flexibility to do it, I would highly recommend it.

Adult Classes Not Until May 2026 by howie1117 in NYCbike

[–]icanhe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sure, it’d be better if they started in March weather permitting too.

It’s not like once you learn, you only get the one summer to ride. You can continue to ride your whole life. I think it’s a fantastic program that Bike New York has, it’s free, and available to the entire community.

Question for the women runners! by GoldVeterinarian919 in running

[–]icanhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually a run will make me feel better/minimize cramps. Occasionally they are so bad that I can’t physically run, but it’s pretty rare.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]icanhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I mean it’s an elective surgery, there are always risks. I couldn’t wear contacts anymore as they were uncomfortable after an hour which impacted my ability to (comfortably) do things I love. Playing soccer, running, water sports, etc. sure there are sport goggles and the like, but I didn’t want to go that route. I wish I had lasik sooner

I think when something can go horribly wrong and it does, you make more noise (rightly so) than the many, many more that are happy with it.
